Ok sorry if such topic has laready been discussed.

As far as I can expect from the schematic description of the machined platemail, it should give the wearer a strength bonus. Oh and unparalleled protection BTW.
So I spend tons of gold to buy mech. manuals, spend hours of time to find all necessary components. Then I assemble the gizmo only to find out it gives no strength bonus :-x Yeah, protection is really nice, but not much better than 'common' elite plate. And it's somewhat too heavy for me without it's str. bonus
Yeah, I tried and found RANDEL's 'THE MAD TEXAN' CLAWSON's patch which is supposed to correct the script dealing with that bonus. Needless to say, the patch didn't work :(
Than I take a look at PRO-files contained in the game and find out that PRO-files resembling machined plate do NOT have any scripts attached. And my knowledge of PRO-files isn't vast enough to manually attach this script.
Bah, curse the day I had chosen the way of technologist :x
    Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, so added to effect "carry +1000" reduces the weight of the armour, but is only effective while wearing it.

And why can't you (Quartz) add "st +3" (or whatever) the same way?

Actually, if you applied Randal's patch properly, it included an edited effects.mes file that gave that strength bonus to the armor. It also included a modified Arcanum.Patch0 that contains a modification to map.patch which makes it all work.

What would an armor strength bonus have to do with map.patch?

Ah, you see young one, you can rarely use logic in the world of scripting and editing. To the Programmers, *pauses to bow in raptures*, these things made sense. The brains of common men cannot be expected to understand why the Hell they put it there. But it is. So we must adapt.

*bows ominously, then then turns around and walks into the door on my way out*

I see. :) Although I still think you can make the Machined Plate working without the map.patch... looks like I'll have to try it...
