Loghaire free follower?

I've just begun playing Arcanum again after a long time away, mostly due to Drog's great new fix patch.

I was reminding myself about various bits of the game on the net and I read somewhere that Loghaire joins the PC regardless of follower limit, I'd always assumed he counted against the limit, and always dumped another character to take him along.

Can anyone clear up for me whether he's a free follower or not, I'm guessing some mistake may have been made with confusing him with either Thorvald or Jormund who I know are both 'free' followers.

I'd rather not have to play through till when you get Loghaire to find out.

Loghaire is not a free follower. Here's a list of all free followers:
Dog
Arronax
Thorvald
Cynthia Boggs
Swyft

The last three are temporary. Thorvald in particular was fixed in the UAP 080823, so he now leaves the party properly if you neglect to take him back to the Wheel Clan.

 

That's what I thought. Is Jormund fixed in your patch Drog? As IIRC he would join for free if you asked him to wait and then rejoin.

 

Ah, now I see what you mean. Turns out there's the same problem with Dante as well, he also rejoins for free if you ask him to wait.
