Items without graphic form.

When I assemble some of the items they are in my inventory but there is no graphic for them. When I position a cursor over the square in which these reside I get the description and I can use those items but I can't see them. So far it happened with Auto Skeleton Key (though the graphic appeared later after some time of playing) and Elixir of Hypnotic Suggesiton.

Anyone else having this problem? Perhaps some solution?

 

I also had the problem with the Auto Skeleton Key. It didn't cause a problem with gameplay so I just dealt with it. I could still use it.

 

this could be caused by user-made patches and such that have been applied. Try moving everything out of your /Arcanum/data folder (including its subfolders). That will undo most of these patches and may solve your issue.

 

That's not a reason since it also happened while I was playing w/o add-ons.

 

Then reinstall. Or maybe just commit suicide.

This is a really common bug. I've had entire inventories disapear only to reapear later. All I have are the standard Troika patches. If the stats are there, the items are there, so I just ignore it. The graphics come back on their own.

At least you aren't naked in the middle of nowhere with a sex change. (My favorite Arcanum bug).

 

I think that "naked with a sex change" happens when you try to load a "corrupted game".

Yet, the game doesn't HAVE to be corrupt: once I tried over and over loading every single of my savegames, and it said the same, even if I exited the game. (I'm using XP so there were no memory leaks or anything, I usually only reboot once or twice a week :smile:

I restarted and it worked fine. My guess is that some files weren't closed properly (handle was locked) and rebooting automatically closed them...

BTW, if you run the World Editor, that room is called the ShopRoom, and I believe it's the screen where you start (but you can't see the terrain) and can buy stuff (my guess is that one guy is the player, the other is the shopkeeper and the box is the stash - and you aren't wearing your stuff yet, if you start a new game you'll see that your clothes are in the inventory and not in the paperdoll)
