First off, let me introduce myself as a Fallout 1/2 veteran and someone who loves those two games and this one a lot. And I just beat it the first time around today. My question is about compatability for two character ideas. I'm thinking I might try to make an evil diplomat character. Does anyone think that would be possible, or even any fun (evil people like killing, no?) And finally, I found a funny bug. When you find Arronax in the void, but before you free him, you can cast Unseen Force and push him out of his field. But he still thinks he's trapped! I pushed him back in and then freed him. Thanks for your input!
Arcanum has been made in a very unique way: you can win no matter what you do! If you went crazy and killed everyone off, there would still be a way to get to the void and kill Kerghan. Although it may be harder then the main one. And yes, taking your anger out on everyone is very fun, but it can get you into a bad situation with characters like Gilbert Bates (with all those guards), the King of Caladon (The whole town will attack you on sight), and a few really strong NPCs. Also, it may be hard because, if you kill everyone off, you wont have anyone to follow you around to carry your stuff, act as a decoy, and help you win those rough battles. It could get pretty messy, but it would be fun.
It's not hard if you kill everyone! Just get stringy pete's boat, go to Thanatos, use coordinates, find/kill Nas!
No you dont. Just get the Void Sword. It will kill Kerghan nearly 10 hp per hit if you are good at melee! I sometimes use the Void Sword to get him into his shell and then use the Vendigroth Device for it's cool movie. You can just hit Kerghan with the Void Sword while he is in his shell and it will kill him. Much easier then using a normal weapon.
Just curious, but where would one come accross a Void Sword? I didn't ever find one, but I just went straight from Arronax to the castle, so might it be through the teleporter off to the left of the castle surrounded by that horde of undead whatevers?
Exactly. Go into that portal and run along the south ledge. You will find some stairs that go down into a cave. The cave is filled with all kinds of Void creatures and demons so be ready. You have to go through a series of portals that will take you back to the ring of brodgar (on the void's side that is. Where all those void lizards are when you first enter the void). Then, just go back through until you get to Kerghan's castle again.
