yah so this is my second time playing the game and my first time when one of my quests was to find out more about Gilbert Bates I helped kill those guys that kept appearing in his factory and eventually he told me the location of the wheel clan

yada yada yada i beat the game. :)

Now i decided to help Cedric Appleby instead ( to make things more interesting) but as luck would have it now any time i try to enter his estate his guards kill me

    It sucks :-x

So from previous knowledge i stole the Newspaper telling about Renford Willager's death and bada bing i'm on the Tsen Ang quest.

So my question is how do i find out where the Wheel Clan is and complete the quests branching off of it.

oh yah can i still find stillwater if i haven't visited the wheel clan?

Maybe he does like playing it like it was made to be played and not cheat?

I'm sorry, but I have no idea if you can find the Wheel Clan. I can't remember if I did find them when playing, so I mightn't be the best person to try to answear this question.

You probably can find Stillwater without visiting the Wheel Clan (that is if you aren't lead to the Wheel Clan before it) since Stillwater is a pretty important part.

And anyway, even if you find it, you need a special item to get into it, so...

I'm assuming that Appleby got you to sneak into the mansion. So are both you and ALL of your followers wearing servants uniforms? if you aren't you'll be attacked. Then do the following:

You have to sneak into Bate's room, steal his journal and give it to Appleby. Make sure that you read the book before you hand it over and it should trigger the Black Mountain Mines quest, which then leads on to everything else.

You can suppossedly see the Wheel Clan entrance if you have 20 perception, but I've never gotten it to work.

Not true! I was playing tonight and found the entrance without the special glasses! I examined a rock right where the entrance would be (it lit up when I scrolled over it), then I ran up to it, and the entrance revealed itself.

Traveling to Stillwater before you hear about it from some NPC is cheating? Why?

hey thanks for backing me up Mathboy and i consider it cheating because your using knowledge that, according to the game, you aren't supposed to know yet.

oh yah and i already gave the journal to appleby a long time ago and i did'nt read so i guess i'll miss out on that part of the game... but who cares i'll play it again anyways. :)

    oh yah forgot..sorry

Hey! Before someone else yells at you, no double posting. Just edit a previous post.
EDIT* It's gone!!! Well everything's back to normal.

    Doublepost, where? ;)

Going to places you're not told about is cheating, or called metagaming I believe. Unless of course you role-play a psychic or a character who already knew where the place was.

    Heads up!
If you go to Stillwater before you go to the Wheel Clan - doNOT talk to Myrth the elf! For some reason that interferres with your learning the location of Quintara from him.

Then again: you don't really need Myrth to learn where Qintarra is, now do you?

Actually no - this I learned quite by accident.

Last time I did that I just couldn't find Myrth. I was going to just take the amulet from him and give it back to the herbalist in Shrouded Hills, before I went to the wheel clan.
But here's something that works very well; if you know where to find Stringy Pete's cove, you can get his boat before you ever get to the island of despair. Of course, you can't use your boat to get there, and if you try to dock it in Ashbury, Teach's boat will overlap it and he'll be standing on the deck of your ship. But, to do all of that succesfully, it helps to have Teleport, or a few scrolls of teleport, because killing Stringy Pete when you're level 20 can be pretty hard.

You can ALWAYS find out the location from Myrth, kill him, summon his spirit and he will tell you. One of the few uses for that spell.

What the...?! Are you telling me that exploring equals cheating? That's just downright stupid!

Why not just be patient and wait for a quest where you are required to travel there?
You get more out of the game that way

Exploring is not cheating, exploring the right places because you've been there hundreds of time before is cheating.
