be careful about throwing around the word "idiot" when you are broadcasting your naivety. we "in the know" (aka educated computer scientists) use the term "source code" to refer to the data the gets "hex edited", as a layman would say, without blinking an eye.

I seriously thought that since troika games are so great, its long-time fans would be intelligent. Not knowing these terms doesn't make you an idiot. It took me 6 years and tens of thousands of dollars to get my credentials and knowledge. The fact that you use sarcasm when you are clearly naive makes you an idiot. Binary is a number format, machine code is represented in binary (duh).

Touché. Although - taking in account Tulla's age and the longevity of some of Arcanum's races - it's debatable whether there even were as much as five of his prodecessors, so it's a partial victory, at best.

Those of us "in the know" (aka educated people that know better than to argue about something they clearly know nothing about) can interchange binary and (native) machine code at will. This is because while machine code nearly always is paired with source code, not all binary is. Machine code is binary of a particular format but other binary files (such as various image formats, compression formats, tarball etcetera) don't need to be compiled to the same format as the data can be read & interpreted directly by the program.

But you're right, it was entirely not obvious that you were trolling and I'm so totally devastated that you're calling me all these nasty names on the internet. It totally wasn't because I called you out on being wrong or anything.

But mainly this thread is for people to ask me questions that they need answered. I can spend some time in the editor and documentation and get back to you though if you really need it. I'm curious for the answer but more curious if the AI would actually allow an NPC to cast Disintegrate ever.

 

Can I ask you also a technical questions? Like whats meaning of integer value at offset 0x0C in object prototype header? Gotcha?!
