Help! Stuck in Tarant

I'm stuck after killing the dudes in the basement of shuyler's. My save games say I still have to talk to someone there about the ring. I have started another character, same thing happened to her. Help!!

did u talk to the necromancer dude in the center of the 3 and keep talking to him intill he tells u who the ring belongs to

 

I got pissed off and killed him. I got his key and found the slip in the chest saying it was Bates'

 

did u go to Bates Mansion and talk to the guard there

 

yeah, and I don't have the conversation options to get the guard to say anything. just "I'm a member of the press" or... I can't remember the other one, but it's equally as useless

 

Well,it would seem that you are in a bit of a jam,well did you talk to riezzie or whatever his name was? because the same thing happend to me a while back.,then if that doesnt work just talk to the center necromage and finish the dialouge,then read the note and that should clear up the qust thing.
