This may be a really stupid question, but how does a magical party (mage main character, Sogg, Virgil, Dog) heal Magnus? Virgil refuses to heal him until he's nearly dead (presumably because the effect is so weak) potions heal almost nothing, and without any alchemy characters I've got almost nothing in the way of tech healing. Is there something I'm missing?
I'll second Frigo's suggestion. Magnus goes through healing salves like crazy but won't touch potions until he's absolutely got nothing else to fall back on. And of course, most attempts to heal him magically fail.
What's the best way to get healing salve? What's strange is that Virgil will heal Magnus with greater heal, as long as he's somewhere below 10%, and it works every time.
If you're too cheap to buy the salve (which can be costly if you don't have a high beauty/haggle score), go to the crash site and collect all the Ginka and Kadura if you haven't already. Get more from the herbalist in Shrouded Hills/Black Root/Tarant/Ashbury/whatever cities you have access to. Then head to Dernholm, find Jayna Stiles and convince her to join your party. If you have no room, temporarily kick out Sogg/Virgil/Magnus. Give Jayna the herbs, and have her make you a half-dozen batches of healing salve (or more if you've got the herbs). Then kick her out and join up with Sogg/Virgil/Magnus again. It's a little time-intensive, but that salve gets expensive quickly if you have a full party to support and no tech character to make it for you.
Too lazy to try it myself, but does Virgil effectively use bandages on Magnus (and other techies)? If he does, you don't have to carry Healing Salves.
Virgil uses bandages on anyone as soon as you put them in his inventory ,too bad he doesn't heal shit because his skill is too low.Heal becomes decent from expert lvl . Best thing to do even as a magic character is to spend one point to get the schematic and make the salves yourself
The problem is, Jayna won't join you unless you have ~25 Tech Aptitude, while admanb sepcified that his character is a mage. @admanb: if you aren't afraid of wasting a character point, dump 1 CP into Herbology and make them yourself.
I figured a high beauty/charisma/persuasion score would overcome any discipline-related issues with joining the party. Guess not. Also, how effective would the healing salves be with a mage character? I'm assuming there's no problem with making them, it's just the application that's dicey? How well does Virgil fare with technological healing methods?
Why bother using Virgil when you can throw the salves in your tech follower's inventory and he/she can use it when needed. Besides Virgil's magickal aptitude is so pathetically low that he'd probably have no problems applying the salve.
