Going Stupid in Caladon

Ok I have been playing Arcanum for quite sometime now and have had a strange fate befall my human fighter. He has a Int of 15 but as soon as he starts to talk to alexander he goes dumb( INT decreases to 1 !!) I thought it was a bug so I reloaded up to that point and tried again. BAM I start dumb dialog. I reloaded several times and even completed other quests and then headed back to the temple and I still go stupid. Here are the particulars. I have Raven, Magnus, the resurrected Virgil, Perriman, and Chukka. I am at +100 alignment. I have not jumped the Main Plot except for finding Gorgoth Pass for the Arcanum gods quest(I have not made it to Thanatos in the current game so I have only done the first three spheres of the gods quest). The only thing different in the current game is that Virgil is with me. He makes some remark about Alexander when I bring the party near him. I have left the party outside and talked to him alone, but the same thing happens. I dont need spoilers but a helpful hint in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

 

The standard solution is: Apply the Official Patch and pray to Nasrudin you've got a saved game from before entering the temple.
