http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4104731.stm Any one ever try this game out by the way? I don't know it sounds a bit of a fishy game.
Not really. I mean the whole "cyber" thing is getting more and more serious with each passing year. People earning thousands of dollars playing games. If you can spend 100k on a painting that looks good, or a piece of cloth, why not spend it on something virtual? 10 years from now it might be the odd person who doesn't own at least a little piece of land in some virtual space.
You have people there that wrestle sharks, crocodiles and kangaroos for sport, so it doesn't strike me odd at all.
Wow, that's stupid. What the hell was he thinking? He successfully turned something with worth into something completely worthless.
Snow, "worth" is relative. Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. In this case, apparantly this virtual land was "worth" 26 and a half G's. I could take a dump in a box, and we all would pretty much agree that it's worthless. However, if someone gave me five bucks for it, well.......
Exactly. When someone linked me to Britney Spear's chewed and spit out gum on ebay seemed I thought that gee, that must be money spent in the worthless way possible, but hey. The thing is probably so well done it shines. Containing every possible detail, it's probably worth a few months of a 3d modeller salary worth.
