Hello all, I beat this game a long time ago, but I am heading back into it again. I was wondering if you guys could offer a few tips. I am using the WIP mod 1. If I am a technologist is it basically a waste of time to have a mage in my party? Or can he function fine next to me? 2. Can I set scripts for Virgil so he doesn't waste all his magic on me? 3. I no longer have my manual. Under the weapon description, what do the stats mean? (D: FT: TH: + ) 4. NPCs seem to only level when I level, is there a way to change that? I found a level 9 NPC who would be useless the whole game. 5. Do NPCs get expert and master skill levels ever? 6. As a tech guy is there ever a faster way to travel other than train? (mages get teleport if I remember right) 7. Is there a max number of fate points? 8. How does back stabbing work, just go behind the guy? Or do I have to be in prowl mode.
Mage AI is horrible in this game, and with the exception of magickal healing wizards prefer to rush headlong into combat eschewing powerful combat spells in favor of their scrawny fists. So yeah, mages work just as "well" together with technologists as with fellow mages in most circumstances, just bear in mind that if you get sufficiently injured, a healer will spam useless healing spells on you until they've drained all their fatigue. Nope. Or well, I guess you COULD do that but it would require some hefty editing of the source code. Feeling up to that? D = Physical Damage, FT = Fatigue Damage, TH = To Hit. I believe there's a list in the Troikapedia somewhere explaining what all the stats mean. Nope. But once you hit lv50, NPCs will still level up. Even at max level, you still get experience and fill up the red experience bar. Only if you have the Educator perk and are at one mastery level higher than your followers (a master in Firearms can train followers to experts if they qualify). Some followers also have training by default. No, that's just one of the perks that come with magick. In theory there should be, but due to certain bugs some places like Kree allow for an infinite number of fate points. Any attack to the back should do the trick. Just remember to carry the right weapon for the job. Daggers, I believe, are the only viable backstabbing weapons you have until you're an Expert Backstabber in which case you can play with swords and axes. I'm not sure about this, but I don't think you can ever backstab with maces, hammers and such.
The Gamemaster: You're going to backstab him with a ballista? Nimble the Thief: Uh huh The Gamemaster: With a fucking siege weapon? Nimble the Thief: Uh huh
Well, that's one of the peculiarities of 3e right there. Sneak attacks can be performed with any weapon, be it a punching dagger or a monkey gripped huge category weapon, which arguably doesn't make sense, at least if you're fighting halflings.
Of course, the Gamers came out way before 3e. A must for any RPer. Fairly short in 5 parts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiTEHqAeanw 1of 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-7UwvyVzG4 2 of 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h54TQv61IsU 3 of 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIaIdv79Xz4 4 of 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrKMalmOAas 5 of 5
That's wrong on more levels than I can count, and they're both quite basic levels really. Inflicted 264 points of damage though. Great find by the way.
Thanks. Saw it years ago. My nephew bought the video at an anime con. Figured it'd be somewhere on youtube. It registers on many levels. And of course we've all seen this.
I don't know. I mean, one could conceivably nail someone by surprise with a ballista....it would just have to fucking come out of nowhere and be fired from far enough away. Imagine just driving to work, and suddenly your rear windshield explodes with a wooden projectile with a diameter that's half the length of your torso. You'd be pretty goddamn surprised, and I think whoever orchestrated that little number deserves the double damage modifier. I have seen it before, but it's always worth another watch. The 8 bit reenactment version is my personal favorite.
I liked that "Hey Dewd" parody at the end so much I found the mp3 online somewhere and downloaded it. Some dude (LAWL) named Midas authored it. EDIT: Damn, that youtube version cuts it off. Check out this link that I found in 4 seconds by searching youtube. Ignore the shitty fanmade FMV for it, and just listen, it's a great rip on Hey Jude.
