My game crashes periodically and dumps me back to my desktop. I was just curious if anyone else has come across something similar to the following problem. My machine is good. It is a is Compaq that is beyond the minimum specs for Arcanum and hasn't had problems with any other game. All of the drivers and bios files and other related things are up to date so I won't bore people with specs other than there is about 8gb of free hdd space. There is also no strange h/w or s/w in the machine. It will lock up whether my AV is running or not so I just keep it going. When I get up to around 12-13 save game files the game starts crashing on me. More so when I'm in SH than in the wilderness. If I quit the game and delete a couple of games from the savegame directory it will start working fine again and not lock up on me again until I have hit this magic number of 12-13 save games. I have uninstalled the game, defraged the drive and reinstalled the game and this problems persists. Knowing I'm not the only one with this problem would make me feel somewhat better about my system
Well, I think that it is a demo thing. Missing art and sound... I guess they hadn't time to check ALL the code to bring out the nasty bugs.
Try removing all your save game files except one or two, that will probably keep it from crashing and all.. and unless your playing with like ten guys using the same game you shouldn't need them all
I've got one save game for each section of the world map and SH and a couple of others. It would be nice if we could delete unwanted save game files from within the game's file menus or be able to rename them to something else.
I've had this strange problem where the shadow under my character would go totally black and draw a line when I moved him... (It looked rather crazy) I have only had this problem in hardware mode so it must be my ancient Riva TNT... _________________ "Duffman can't breathe, oh yeah!" [ This Message was edited by: Kozmo_Naut on 2001-05-29 06:13 ]
