Fate Of Vigil

AFter you come out of the trees in Quintarra, having gone to The Dark Elves place, and crashed there, Vigil wants to go back to Caladon.

Knowing Vigil, he wouldn't be that stupid. Being as if I can click on him and ask for 1,000 Coin...

So, he long departs me for Caladon...And...I chased afafter him...Quickly I went to Caladon and began Isolating the City into Groups of Buildings, and searched for him.

"Vigil, GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE!" I yelled...Well no, not really. But...My question is:

Where did Vigil go? Is he coming back? Where can I find him? He ran off with my Machine Plate DAMNIT!!!

First off, what is Virgil doing with a Machined Plate?

Second, did Virgil ever leave you before, in the Caladon cemetary? Should've gotten a journal entry about it, and a note to investigate next time you were in Tarant.

In Tarant, you could get a newspaper article which would provide a hint about where exactly in Caladon Virgil's gone.

YES! THANK YOU! PANARRII BLESS YOU MAN! Uhh, the Machined plate was gotten down in Ashbury. That one guy wanted you to go inside another Inventors house, kill the Arachnid, and the Automatron, and recieve his Machined Plate for him.

When I attacked the Arachnid, the guy fled in terror. I tried talking to him, but he was a bit shaken by the incident...Poor guy...

Yes, I DID go to the Sour Onion to find Virgil. The Building was in Search Building Group B...How strategic of me eh?

Now, to go in and smack the hell out of him...Where are my Gauntlets?

Don't See Him

He's not there...I came back at night, he's still not there. I did as you said, I went to Tarant, I go the Records Officer...I uhh...Searhced...I went to the Sobbing Onion...And I 'noticed' everyone in the room. On of your 'black-market dudes' has a Prowling Master Note. Obviously of no signifigance to Virgil....


Maybe he's by the Grave at day, and hiding in the Onion by night? I need you help! AHHH!

The obvious question would be, are you patched? If not, consider applying the patch and reloading from a save before Virgil left.

Also, you said he left you outside Qintarra? Did you mean to say Tsen'Ang or is this yet another bug to consider?

I mean like, after I left Ten' Sang, I went to Quintarra. Spoke to Raven, Spoke to the grand-mother, spoke to Raven....Had her jo-...wait wait...

I had Raven join me after Ten' Sen' Aung...When I spoke with her Grnadmother and she said my answer lies with Nsaurida....

MAybe he DIDN"T leave me after QUintarra...I can barely remember, so I must be THINKING it was Quintarra...He left me after Ten' Sen Aug, having killed the Evil Lady, and being confronted by hte head Molechian Hand Man. got him to leave, and as soon as I clicked on the passage way to hard-flat ground...Virgil said hen eeded to go back to Caladon...

What I mean is, after I spoke with the Molechian TOp Hand Man, I went to the Exit, clicked on it, and then I was teleported to the Entrance of Ten' Sen aung...When I was confronted by Mr. Virgil...

So, he should be down there, right? Or is ther ANOTHER passage?

Yes, he's supposed to be down there, and no, there's not some secret passageway within the basement.... It's all pretty obvious and straightforward, when you're not running into bugs that is.

So, are you patched? Enquiring minds want to know!

PAtched? I think so...When I hit the Multiplayer button, and then Internet, it said I needed patched. So I downloaded the Patch, and the addition Patch for WorldEd....Uhh..So I guess I'm patched....Via the Multiplayer button...

In your Arcanum directory, is there a file called PatchReadme.txt? On the first line, does it give a version number? Hopefully version 1.0.7.4, if you've got the final patch.

Hey I was just looking through the credits, and I noticed that the voice casting for the game was done in Burbank! High-five! :grin:

Oh, um, it seems you have a bug. Barring further research I'd say make sure you're patched up to the latest version, and reload to before Virgil leaves if you want him back.

Yup, there was a PAtch Readme...And it said Version 1.7.0.4...Errr something like that...The one with the 4 thingy...

Thanks for your help...Maybe there's a timing error or something..Maybe I have to complete a quest before he will show up down there again...That, will time will tell...

Sometimes Virgil gets stuck in the trees outside of Tsen'Ang when he leaves. Go back and check, he might still be there. Stuck in the trees. Silly boy.

Found him!

YUP! He is there....Went back and checked, and sure enough, he sw me and said "Excuse me, but I must go". That dumb bastard!

Is there anyway to fix this? And, if I load a game before he departs....Well, I've got a long way to go...

After you click on him and he says he's gotta go, does he go or does he stay stuck? If he gets himself unstuck I'm sure he'd be in the Sobbing Onion awaiting your arrival. But if he's still stuck.... hmm....

I just did a quick search of the troubleshooting board at the official Sierra forums. From what I can tell, sometimes some people can get him unstuck by talking to him, and sometimes other people can't get him unstuck no matter what. And there's no workaround that I know of. So unless Shadygrove has any ideas you'll probably have to reload or finish the game without Virgil.

Hey, I wonder.... If you kill him without pissing him off, like by giving him the Baneful Gauntlets or something, when he's dead you can drag his body to a different spot, and then resurrect him. It might work, or it might simply screw up his whole AI/script/whatever. I've never had him stuck myself. :shrug:

Tell me how? Beneful gauntlets???? I did find a scroll of ressurection in that Base-ment where Birgil was supposed to be...
