Did anyone else manage to escape from Shrouded Hills in the demo?

Reading older threads I've seen many cases of people getting out of Shrouded Hills, here you go.

    The demo...
Ah that takes me back. 300mb on a 56k modem.
Took me 2 days to download the thing and now I haven't the faintest clue what was in it.

Yes, it is possible to escape from S.H., but it involves modifying the saved game.
All the magic worked, including teleportation, and the tech things I've tried too, but clearly, there weren't enough gadgets for the tech things.

Of course, Tarant was missing, after teleportation, I saw only the grid + some scenery.

Actually in the demo i managed to escape shrouded hills via real time travel by going north as far as i could along the river then using the world map. There is nothing else in the world but the terrain and creatures are the same. Like you can fight wererats, among other things. I member i got to level 33 before i got bored ^_^

Wow...To be honest, I'm shocked that you had the stamina to go through with it.
The first time I played Arcanum was with the full retail copy, so I never got to see miles of nothing with some were-rats...and I instead became obsessed with finding the exact character type that would allow me to get through the game with as low a level as possible.

All I remember of the demo is that the dialog with Stennar is in text only, and that your character starts out with one of them blue suede jackets instead of a nice suit.

Well, the demo was my first experience of Arcanum too, and I was 16 at the time. If I remember correctly it was included in one of those cd's you used to get when you bought gaming magazines.

Needless to say, I was in awe and bought the full version as soon as I got the opportunity - meaning I had to upgrade my computer, since the one I had at the time couldn't run it (I'd played the demo on my brother's rig).

Until I had the money for a major computer upgrade I finished Arcanum on a friend's computer.

Same exactly. I got it from my friends CD. But my computer ran it with little black squares on the terrain. It involved a lil programming of direct X to get rid of it, but then it ran slow.

Well I have a fast computer and arcanum so im good. Well anyway in the demo I was so bored I made Snape the Potion Master from Harry Potter once. He was magic w/ chemicals and herbology. :D

Yeah, It must've taken some stamina to do that. I never got to play the demo and I only got my first Arcanum experience from the retail version. I was only eleven at the time.
