UGH, please try to be a little more clear. It's called RAM MEMORY. And yes, you need at least 256 DDR ram if you want to get anywhere with games as old as Arcanum.
I disagree. I played Arcanum fine with 64Mb SDRAM. And it's not called 'RAM Memory'; just RAM. Since RAM is Random Access Memory, you are calling it Random Access Memory Memory. But, yes, it would be a good idea to upgrade for the newer games.
Arcanum would like at least 256 Mbytes in Windows XP 128 Mbytes in 2000 and it could run with 64 Mbytes in 98.
The slowdowns that are accuring in Arcanum come from a memory leak which is visible mostly on XP. More memory on the graphics card would be also better. Xento, when someone says RAM, everyone knows what they're talking about. But if you say "how many megabytes does this game need" it's making a total pc newbie out of yourself.
How about you just call Jinxed, one of our omnipotent moderators, a "nub" and let it drop at that, xento.
I wrote it that way because I usually see RAM memory do you have quesions or what not. RAM has become more of a stand alone name than anything else.
Ah, I see. I usually call it 'RAM' or 'Random Access Memory', because a computer newbie will think that 'memory' means hard drive space on most occasions.
i ran arcanum just fine with 128 mb sdram in xp, only lagging in tarant. now i run it on 512 mb sdram in xp, no lagging at all.
