How do I disable specific spell sounds? like purity of water, a really annoying looping sound is a reason to not have buffs. but the problem is that when I disable all "sound effects" the not so annoying sounds that I wanna keep go away too.
I have this really old mod - spelleyecandy.mes, which disables constant sound effects. I have no idea who made it, since I have no readme file with it, just the lone .mes file. I tested it with UAP and it seems to work just fine. Any mods working on spells would probably be incompatible with it. I uploaded it here (will disappear in 30 days): http://rapidshare.de/files/48519316/SPELLEYECANDY.MES.html To install, place it into data\rules\ folder. If only I can find out where the credit is due... btw, can someone host this mod here on TA? Note that it has no effect on spells already cast when loading a save - recast and the sound should be gone. And welcome to the forums!
There's also this precious file made by Drog Black Tooth. When placed in your Arcanum folder, it removes the looping sounds from the first level spells of the four elemental colleges, Tempus Futig and the annoying sound made by a familiar, finally making one worth having.
As far as I know, all familiars in Arcanum are small flying two-legged two-winged dragon-like lizards, who constantly go "flap-flap-flap" until the Living One decides to stab his eardrums with an ice pick in order to ease his suffering.
Sorry, I was thinking any non-humanoid was considered a familiar. You are correct. Is there a way to get rid of the constant howling of DOG? I'd shoot him myself if I didn't need him so
In my games it seems that performing a single quickload turns off all idle animations and sounds of creatures for the whole game session, which pretty much means that I hardly ever see/hear those. I remember how on my second playthrough I discovered a kite at the Crash Site singing while being idle and after that I just stood in awe and listened to it over and over again. I considered that really entertaining and generally disliked the fact that a quickload blocks all idle animations/sounds, but then again I never thought of the fact, that Dog would drive me crazy in no time if not for that.
WHAT?! ... so many years, countless games finished and I have absolutely no idea that kites can make sounds other than their screams and grunts. That is not linked to on his main UAP page... and I think I've seen other Drog's mods mentioned here too, that are also not on his UAP page. Any idea why? Perhaps because Drog hasn't tested their compatibilities with UAP? By the way, could another hosting site be used? Megaupload *never* has servers available - it's their evil plot to get people to install their spyware toolbar.
...was my exact reaction on that fine day. Things like those are far too simple to be affected by the game's version. Why isn't it on his UAP page, you ask? I think he has mostly done things like that one because someone requested it, so Drog did it and simply didn't pay enough attention to it to actually make it downloadable for a wider audience. I think I myself stumbled upon it somewhere in the middle of the 90-page UAP thread at the RPG Codex, right next to a simple file which disables the Troika and Sierra videos at game launch. I could use Rapidshare, but that one will only last for 10 downloads and/or 30 days. I think that a much better option of upload would be just adding the file to our download section so that everyone can use it and enjoy it's glory, for it surely is worthy.
Double posting to make the information noticable enough. Since the file is more likely to end up being completely forgotten rather than added to the download section, I uploaded it HERE.
Just registered to this website to say thanks to the uploader and maker of this/those files. They are saviors. Atm figuring out where should I copy/past them, but ill find it in time (will also come back here to provide the answer when I find it). Thanks again, and also the whole terra-arcanum community
Re: Once the corpse is dug up, we might as well make in dance, right? _ Judging by the ArcanumXLizard.dat file I have in my Arcanum folder, I'd say that's where the ArcanumXNoNoise.dat file should go. Could this be the override folder I asked about? I'll have to try that out some time.
Oh wow this brings me back. I have no idea what the answer to your question is gillsing but looking at your signature I can tell you have an excellent taste in webcomics.
