Can't select "chat" option

after about 6 years of arcanum with no hacks/mods I decided to be bold and try something new. After installing the patch and high res mod + the virgil mod I started up the game. When I get to the shrine and meet the Elf city dweller I can't click any of the chat options. The text area just kind of shakes and pretends nothing happened =(

I tried removing the enlarged font to see if that helped but it did nothing. Anyone have any idea what's causing this?


****After messing around a bit I removed the replacement virgil portrait and this seems to have solved the problem...at least for now****

 

Side note, did you use the virgil mod from the downloads section? Because it seems out of date. There is one floating around on the forums here that is an actual .dat file ArcanumXVirgilDebug.dat that has more features than the one in the downloads section.

I found it on accident while searching the forum for something or other. Having every place marked on the map is quite helpful for the aspiring thief to ninja every +prowl item imaginable.
