I've started a new game and i am unable to get to caladon, it isnt on my map, and the ship captains do not have it as an option to sail to? im not sure what im missing...

to get to caladon you need to play the main plot in order to get the option. I think it was after the silverladys visions that you have to know where is a place(I'm not giving spoilers!) realted to that situation you need to find a guy and you find out that he is in caladon that's when you get the option to go there.
Yes. I assume that he'd point it out since I was to do a quest at Caladon. I'm not sure but it is already marked in my map during my time playing this quest. I just need to get to the other side of the moutains. I only realize this after someone made a comment from the other message board.
I found out about it from the Hall of records, the info about the guy who owned the book I think it told me he was in caladon then I asked someone to tell me I think thats the way it was for me.
