Is it really that hard to enter Bates Mansion? I mean, I just told the guard outside that I was an old friend and I was allowed to just waltz right in the front gate! Also, I was never able to talk to Cedric Appleby at all. I mean, the first time I visited him, he just said something to the effect that He would not socialize with Bates sympathizers or some crap. So the whole part about blowing up the engine, or ratting out Appleby never was available to me. Appleby hated me the moment I walked in his door. Why? I once got the option to do a quest for Appleby through the Thieves Underground. They say he wants you to sneak in and steal something I believe it was. I would guess you'd need to do this before helping Bates in any way though, seeing as Appleby dislikes him so much.

I see you have persuasion skills which makes you do that. But there are still lots of other ways to get in. You can use the passage way from the cemetery and do the quest the guard will give you and Bates will then respect you. As for Applesby, its like choosing which to side. This will affect the ending of the game. You can either choose Bates or Applesby.

Touche' LOL Well, in my defense, I have only had this game about, oh, 2 weeks now. Plus I'm newly married so you KNOW I don't get to play it that often.
