Ok, i like to play as en elf, so i start with -1 constitution, but being a mage, i want 20 Con. 18 necessary, but i want 20...

with a con of 7 start, without backround changes, i cant max my con, but only to 19, being 12 is the most u can raise a base stat. Being unable to find a suitable backround for a mage that raises con as well, i want to know...

WHen u start the game u get to spend 5 points on ur char before u enter the actual play.. Is my base stat derived, after or before i use these stats? and is the BASE also changed by, or modified by backround?
    thanks

What do you mean by base stats?

If you want, you can raise your will power which also make use of spells, fatigues, and hit points, and yes haggle too but it has nothing to do being a mage (except of course for buying spells, etc.).

    Sorry, but...

An Elf can only ever have a 19 con. Not even magic will put it up to 20. The racial modifiers determine your absolute max. A background minus will make it so that use have to use spells or items to reach racial max, but a background plus will not change your max

Okay, I already get what you meant by base stats. I was thinking of the derived stats a while ago.

    Sex wars?

Still 19 Monkey. Gender affects starting stats the same way backgrounds do, starting modifier with no level cap effect.

It looks like Elves CAN get 20 CON or STR

Just look at Jason's journal entry for
the 14th. "Race modifies reaction, and
your starting stats. Elves are not as
naturally strong as Half-Ogres, but that
doesn’t mean an Elf can’t have a Strength
of 20, or be a hulking brute. You just
won’t get it as fast as a race that is
more naturally inclined to that stat."

"...Elf with Strength 20. I’ve tried it,
    and it works."

Wait, how again can an elf get a max stat in strength of 20 other than fooling with the backgrounds?

HEre is what I did. With Shellman's Mod, I made an Elf Magic user with "Soul Your Soul" Back ground.

I got his Int up to 12 so I could maintain 3 spells, and each of the level 1 elemental spells were doing +4 to a stat. So, with three of the same stat modifier spell, I could get +12 magic bonus.

I was able to get the following Max Stats for the elf :

    ST 20
    CN 20
    DX 21
    BU 21

So even if I had 9 in ST and used ST of Earth 3 times (for a magic bonus of +12 to ST) I still only got 20 ST.

Just some more data points for view.
