Ok, I dont know if this happens to everyone, but I was travelling from the isle of despair to Tarant when I "bumped" into Arronax. He was demonstrating how powerful he was and stuff and told me to spread the word that he will return. What am I supposed to do now? Also, I noticed that u peeps have ranks. How can I change mine? and, I'm up to the whole "wheel clan" thing. Is it hard? What level do you think i should be to go there? :-? I'm currently on level 24. Sorry for all of the questions, I'm a newbie
Yes, it does happen to everyone, so don't worry on that account. As to what you should do about his return: What you have been doing all along, working your way towards a solution to the mystery and then stop him. =) At level 24 you should be able to take on most of the monsters hidden in the Wheel Clan mines, but just watch out for the Brute Fangs, they are killers especially in large numbers. -Stuart
As to the ranks, it's all connected to post count. Avatars change with the ranks. After you're over 1000, you might get something special. I'm quite the newbie as well. Thus, maybe I haven't earned the right to say this, but please don't spam your way into higher ranks. It seems to work, but it's REALLY not worth it. Not that you were planning on doing it, anyway. Just sayin'.
Ok, thanx. Another question is that people have been talking about reloading a save before your previous one. Exactly how do you do that?
Nothing strange with that really. You see, it's generally a good idea to have several saves at regular intervals just in case you happen to screw things up. This way, you can go back and change things, should you have done something stupid (like slaying a quest-important NPC etc). By the way, welcome to the forum! :wavey:
You could also use multiple saves. Like if you want to save, but don't know if you fucked something up, make a new save and if you need to go back and fix something just open the original.
Some people keep a save of every level gained and for every city or dungeon entered and then use an AutoSave in between those. I just keep a few main saves and an AutoSave the gets used a lot.
I usually save just after levelling, just before leaving a town, just before entering it, and just before entering combat. Therefore, for each game I always have 4 constantly-updating saves. Unfortunately, for the first time in AGES I chose to play a mage, and a female one to boot (never played a female before, but the options aren't different enough. It feels kinda icky to be playing something not 'you'. Kinda like being forced to dress up in drag and dance the hula). Then I DIDNT follow my own saving formula and used the stupid 'f7 to save, f8 to load'. Thus, I answered badly to the gypsy and she attacked, so I pressed f8, but mushed on f7. Now I'm cursed. I even outran her out of tarant and came back a week later. She was standing there with two guards waiting at the bridge. bugger. So I'm back to the electrical disciplines that I love so much, and enjoying the fact that technology is superior to magic. As for the black mountain clan? Watch the Ore Golems, as they damage your weapon each hit, and the Seething Mass, as they damage your weapon AND your armour AND do damage to you each hit (nasty, but survivable at your level). As was mentioned before, the pack of Brute Fangs can be avoided, but are powerful all out of proportion to their size or relative level. If you have the Dog, imagine something just a little more arse-kicking, and a whole bunch of them at once. I once went back with my IQ1 1/2 ogre at level 50 to 'clean them up' and.... ick. It wasn't pretty.
Dude, you guys had trouble with the 3 damn Brute Fangs?!? You say you like tech, shoot the motherfuckers! If you have dog and tell Virgil to back off, so he just heals you, they are no problem. If you have Sodd too, then that's just butchery.
Not really. Brute Fangs are no weaker than Dog, too damn fast and there's three of them. I usually kill them one by one, because if you mess with the whole pack, its an almost certain death.
Hey, I ran through with an Archer, had the Composite bow on that part, I alternated the Elven Hunter's for the Golems, but the only difference between the Brutes and the other animals was that they cost me an extra arrow. If you rush any number of things in this game, you'll be fucked. My first game, I tried to take the Boil. At level 9. Not too fun, if you've ever tried.
Are you asking about <Escape> & named saves? there is more to saving than F7 & F8. Blinky, if he has tech, he could use Knock Out Gas, Fragmentation Grenades or Stun Grenades. Elvenprincess, most people here seem to be decribing the BMC mines, not the Wheel Clan for some reason. You can do the main plotline quests without combat given 2 or 3 points in persuasion. Bring along a potion of IN. Lots of combat there if you like. In the BMC there are 3 Brute Fangs in an isolated area. In the wheel clan, the single nastiest fight involves 3 or 4 of them, The Grey King, & 2 or 3 of a werewolf like monster. All at once. But do watch out for the spiders in the Dredge, they use Fire magic & are hard on the armor. Kill Burnowars on sight. NEVER get your equiptment repaired by the Wheel Clan Smith.

Ohhh yeah. I hear you brother. Been there first game, done that, got the scars. I didn't do it again! Re the brute fangs... yep, the best way to kill 'em is to get them to chase you one by one, then you can take them down more easily. The brute fangs with the dog king thing... that's nasty and I wanted to not give spoilers.
