SKILLS Statistic Requirements for Skill Advancement: Each rank confers a +40% chance of a skill succeeding, to a maximum of 200%. Novice (Rank 1): 6 Apprentice (Rank 2): 9 Journeyman (Rank 3): 12 Master (Rank 4): 15 Grand Master (Rank 5): 18 Skill Focuses: Some skills have 'focuses', a sort of sub-skill that grants the character a +20% when using that particular aspect of the skill, but inflicts a -20% when using aspects of the skill not focussed on. This +20% can take the skill higher than the 200% limit. I don't remember any crossbows in the game. But if they are, you can scream at me, but I haven't found any yet.
It has potential. Are you familiar with Deadlands. Set in the Wild West, it has an 'Arcanum feel' or a 'Wild, Wild, West' feel to it and may be able to give you some ideas.
I added crossbows because they're my favourite FFRPG weapons and they OUGHT to have been in Arcanum. Never heard of Deadlands, but I'll keep an eye or two open.
