Howdy folks, I'm posting here because I'm seeing how much interest there would be in an Arcanum modification on a newer game engine, notably the Valve Source engine. I know I'll catch hell for suggesting an FPS, but my aim isn't to reproduce Arcanum, or make a sequel for that matter; I want to tell another story that happens to take place in the Arcanum universe, with much emphasis on trying to recreate the setting with as much authenticity as possible. I'm a real sucker for immersion, so that's one of my big aims. My talents don't go far past mapping - although realistically that always has been enough for a single player adventure, be it based on the Half-Life engine, or now, on the newer Source engine. I can produce my own textures if need be, and I've already started a little work on potential locales. I'm not posting this as a recruitment pitch, although if a modeler were to respond, it would save me a few headaches. My goal with this project is to keep it simple, to hopefully build a nice, engaging single player adventure. And my goal in posting here is to see whether there would be any interest generated in such a project. So, my question really is - would it be worth my effort? Would any of you folks be interested?
Sorry for not clarifying - I didn't mean would you be interested in helping out; I meant would you be interested in playing it?
I would most definitely give it a try... provided it was for free, of course. Honestly though, I truly like the idea, and I hope you will be able to reach completion with it - if I recall correctly, there have been other attempts just like this one - unless my memory fails I believe it was for the UT engine. I wish you the best of luck, anyway.
