What backround would you suggest for a Technologist character who isn't doing smithy?

Miracle Operation (assuming you'll use firearms)

The downside of Miracle Operation is the strength, because it will be hard for you to handle the elphant gun if you don't have the right MSR.

You can always spend some cps for strength. MO's intelligence and perception boost is incomparable.

It's a -3 penalty, so it ain't that bad. Elephant guns are MSR 12 aren't they?

Then why did I get an MSR: 18?
    See? That's why I can't play a technological character!

Not gamble, it's a waste of cps. Money isn't as important as cps.

If you really need money, kill some wise women, they will have craploads of money in time, you may want to spare one or two for identifying purposes though.

There are plenty of CPs in the game, and you won't be weak because you took a useless skill like pickpocket or gamble. Pick what interests you.

Don't kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Steal from renewable sources. And there are other ways of identifying, cheaper ways.

Please watch the post dates in the future and try to keep to the newer topics, although I'm place bets it was an accident.

Anyway, I don't even remember half the backgrounds I've played.

No problem, this wasn't even that bad anyway. Typically in an active forum like General Discussion ,or arguably here, if the topic has been dry for 2 or 3 weeks just leave it alone.

In other less active forums, some people say two months. Going past this is called gravedigging. Sometimes we, myself included, take it too seriously. It's not that big of a deal though, unless you're intentionally doing it just to be an asshole. But then again, I don't even remember the last time that happened.
