Am I missing something (deathmatch mod question)

I am playing the deathmatch mod they put out and it seems like you start off at lvl one and are expected to just keep on killing stuff untill you die then you get resurected, then you cant go back and fight again any more. Is that it? You only get to go in the pits once and after you die (which would be pretty quick since you are only lvl one) you dont get to go back. Am I missing something? Is there a way to go back down in there after the first time.

 

I think there are supposed to be other people, and maybe you take turns? Dunno, I tried most of the Troika mods but not that one.
