Add items to Invensource.mes not in description.mes?

There are a rather large number of items that are not in description.mes that can be found on NPCs (ie Fleet Boomerang, Lucky Medallion, etc). Is there a way to get the id's of these items and use the id's in Invensource.mes? I've found a reference to gamedes.mes that may be what I'm looking for, but don't know how where the file is located (in one of the .dat files I assume).

 

You need an undat utility. Look in the download section or at Dimensions of Arcanum.

I don't know whether non-description.mes items can be added to shopkeepers' stock, but they can't be added to custom backgrounds. So, go ahead and give it a try. Personally I don't see the problem in just getting the items the normal way, but that's neither here nor there.

 

Nope. Turns out there is no gamedes.mes in any of the .dat files. Anyone know where the item ids actually are?

 

It's gamedesc.mes. And it's either in \modules\Arcanum.dat or the Easter Bunny slips it into your game when you're not looking.

is there no way at all that you can add these items to your custom inventories. it would be really cool as you would be able to come up with some good backgrounds to go with the items.
