I posted about it long ago but it went to hell during one crash or another. LRR should become a real sniper rifle in Arcanum 2. Basically it should act in different ways depending on how you shoot it: 1) Without aiming like a decent rifle with "to hit" factor higher than in case of an ordinary rifle. 2) While aiming at different body parts it should cripple hands and legs. And when you aim at the head damage upon a successful hit should be tremendous (70hp&fat or more). Upon a critical success with a head shot there should be instant death even in case of very strong opponents. To balance it you couldn't make aimed shots while distance from your character to your opponent is shorter than five "tiles". Obviously aimed shots would be slow thus highly AP consumptive.
Mmmm, I've always wanted to be a true sniper in Arcanum, but the Looking Glass Rifle just wasn't strong enough. Good Idea.
Before the patch it took 40 damage and 40 fatigue per shot from each and every critter thus being the ultimate weapon. The patch weakened it quite a lot. Thanks.
Ah, so it DID. I looked around T-A for a few weeks before I was able to get the game, and saw it - perfect, I thought, for a sniper. Then I thought it must be a typo. Anyway, I ended up getting the game, then getting the patch before I was able to get the LGR. NOW I know what's what. You're welcome.
I like the idea. Since we are on the subject, I think that ANY called shots to the arms/legs that are critical, should actually BLOW THAT LIMB OFF!!! That would be cool! You could target the enemie's weapon arm, and blow it off, disabling his/her/it's weapon. If you blew off the leg, then they would fall down, and would not be able to get up. They could still swing/shoot at you, but it would take many action points, and would usually miss. Same if the tables are turned. Obviously, if your head gets blown off, you die right away.
Well, I think a sniper would br able to get extra long range when changing the camera view... So you wouldn't even need to be near the same screen as the victin... But then again you would have to he AI quite a bit... But if Arcanum 2 came, I'd like it to have a different interface... Not just the usual RPG bird view... I love like the Dungeon Siege camera, and of course the GTA III camera...
yeah, yeah, I know, I know, but why? I mean, sure they can be cool, but it doesn't really work that good in some of the games... Like, I hate dropping things behind a scenery, or not being able to open a window or not seeing the door becuase the camera is from only one view...
