Hey all. I recently started playing Arcanum and I've made to Tarant so far (been there for a while). I was just curious if it's safe to apply the level cap remover for the latest patch (the one that lets you get to 127) after you've already started the game. The description on this site states that if you revert back your savegames won't work, but it doesn't say anything about saves that already exist when you apply it.
Your savegames will work after applying it, the only reason they screw up after you take it off...is well, you're over level 50 most of the time...but anyway, I don't really care what the highest level in the game is. I'm a badass no matter what.
Not needed There is not reason to remove the level cap. lvl 50 is more than enough to beat the game. The first time I beat it, when I tried to do every quest possible, because I didn't really realize that the game was so expansive, my character was level 41 when I beat it. There were still 9 more levels to go before I hit the cap. No matter how "badly" you use your points, it really won't be necessary to remove the cap.
Commander Keen 4 is second best game ever, Arcanum is number one. I agree that you don't need to remove the level cap. I finished the game as a level 43 Gunslinger and then completed it again and ended as a level 44 mage. Then I removed the level cap and finished as a level 67 adventurer. It all depends on how much you wish to invest in your character. :nerd:
I made it to Caladon with a level 50 character without (ab)using the Liam's workshoop or the Graveyard. You can go so high with a gunslinging thief that you can't imagine it.
Some people just seem content to sit there power-levelling to as high as they can go. 'Oooh Im level 127 im unstoppable'. Not realizing they just wasted a week of their life...
