I am ashamed to share the same country as this bastard.

On behalf of Australians everywhere, WE DO NOT CONDONE THIS MAN'S BEHAVIOUR NOR HIS PATHETIC ATTEMPTS TO JUSTIFY HIMSELF.

(There's a pissed off but ultra-polite comment from a 'Caity' on that page. Guess who. When I'm this angry, I get frosty polite.)

Maturity is that wonderful stage in human development when you realise that more than 99% of the people you happen to share a planet with are morons that by all standards of morality should have been locked up for the common good long ago.

I actually feel sorry for the girl. The rape firsthand, and then having that excruciating event hung out in public as some kind of macabre entertainment. It really crosses the line of good taste even for a desensitized fucker like myself.

That's what happens when you let an idiot with taste for cheap controversy on the air. This guy doesn't seem to have much if any media education, not to mention any background in psychology to run a show like that. Entertainment my ass, asking people personal questions in a live audition is not something a wannabe host should be doing.

Not that I particularily care, for the girl or Australia being stuck with an idiot polluting the airwaves, never heard of him before - it's that people got dumb enough to think it's ok just to have a show like that with irresponsible people running it. Because apparently accidents like that couldn't happen to their station.

I miss the days when radio hosts and news presenters were required to have some qualifications, rather then just a sharp tongue and witty jokes all around. The media nowadays has plunged to a level of idiocy and incompetence unthinkable ten years ago, all because dumb shows and dumb presenters seem to be more popular among their target audience.

Contemptibly stupid. The facts you addressed are more or less referable in any comment on the thing, Xiao. For the most part, I care about very little, but the subject of rape and rapists pisses me off to no end. The whole thing shouldn't have happened, but it's a glaring example of human stupidity.

If I had to make such statements every time another Polish idiot emerges... I would rather be illiterate. ;)
    Stupidity is global.

I've been more disgusted by the mothers behaviour. she knew about the rape but refused to take it seriously, parading her daughter around for a bit of media attention instead.

Why the fuck are we concerned about a radio host when someone like that is responsible for someone elses wellfare?

The mother is fucked up, but steps are now being taken. Big steps, by men with the full power of the legal system and a furious public behind them.

What's really pissing me off is that Mr. Kyle "I Am A Fucking MORONAMON" Sandilands and Jackie O "What A Bitch" have been pulling horrible, fucked-up, terrible stunts for nigh on four years now, and it's only now that one's seriously backfired that any of the sponsers or the managers of the station are starting to say "Shit! Maybe we shouldn't be letting them do this anymore!"

Watch the 03/08/09 episode for more examples of the shit these bastards have pulled.

Agreed Vorak, Kyle is just a whining bitch - it's on the news now and apparently he's 'disappointed' about losing his spot on idol. Stick your selfish idealism up your hairy white ass already. Notice how he at first "refused to apologise" for the first few days, before his management did so for him and he claimed he had 'apologised several times before' in another interview. I only give a shit about kyle because he wont get off the goddamned news. What about the mother and the kid, ffs.

Also, what bitch of a mother puts there kid through something like that? This is a kid who was raped when she was -12-, why would you even want to subjugate that to the media? Let alone wait two goddamned years and then go through with it, what the fuck was she expecting? I think that kid needs to get away very fast, I can't see her mother getting any more sympathetic with age. What happened to the pedo responsible?

I can't really comment on the show as I've never bothered to listen to it, either way it's off the air (presumably) for good now, I'm just, in general, pissed about Kyle and others saying "it wasn't me!" and "I'm so sorry" when it doesn't make a damn difference to the poor girl. Media or other education won't help them if they have no taste.

Einstein once said that compound interest is the most powerful force in the universe.

Apply that principle to human stupidity and the reasons behind the state of the world become painfully apparent.

The thing that bothers me is the link below the article that says "Audio: Listen to the lie detector interview".

Yea, nice way to get some more clicks, idiot.

Sure, the guy is an ass, would I want to host a show like that? No, but that doesn't make him wrong in doing so.

The mother however, she should have the best interest of her child as her priority. She clearly hasn't or she's just plain stupid, either way, a bad mother.

I don't see anything bad in exploiting the stupid though. However the stupid isn't the only ones being exploited here, the young are too, and that's just wrong.

The reporter here is the last thing that bothers me here, frankly. The second one being the fact, that the mother, knowing about her doughter's rape, asks her about sex, without having enough brainpower to understand that the doughter can connect the mentioned rape with that question (maybe the girl even thought that was the thing her mother asked about). The first one however being the very idea for that show. "Hey, we don't trust our close ones and we show it by connecting them with a lie detector and asking them uncomfortable questions in front of the whole world, yay!". Boy are people stupid.

What's wrong with the link? The name correctly says what it is and it can help someone understand the whole situation, like it in a way did for me.

The really sad part is that, considering that Kyle and Jackie had no idea of the bombshell that was gonna be dropped, the lie detector segment of their show is actually pretty much the least contemptable thing they've pulled. It's just the first one to seriouly blow up in their faces.

Their producers aren't any fucking better, 'suggesting' to people that begging on air or chucking fits will get Kyle to help them in the exact same way they'd been promised he would help them in the first fucking place. Kyle is scum for coming up with these things, Jackie is scum for going along with them, and their producers are scum for making things worse. They all deserve the sack.

You know a radio show is incredibly bad when Media Watch goes at them for scum tactics even more than they go after John Laws et. al. for breaking the fucking law.

We have something called "Click for the sexy photos" Journalism here in Turkey. It basically consists of a sensational news about a celebrity followed by a link to his/her photos. However, since some news sites do want more clicks, they offer photos for murders (the whole crime scene), terrorist attacks (once, they said there were 3 dead corpses - insulting, and they provided uncensored photos), rape victims (no respect for privacy) etc. with a link in bold and large font saying "Click for photos!!!"

The thing with this is just like those in my country. And it might be wrong to do a show on something like this once, but to offer audio records for everyone to listen is just.. wrong.

I remember in Media studies in primary school that there in media ethics, there is no such thing as true live entertainment.

All interviews that claim to be 'live' should by all rights be cleared with the interviewee before the show. Questions should be sent in some way, and brief answers should be sent back, so that both parties know what to expect in any event. In this way some celebrities actually use it to their advantage - think the recent Jay Leno interview with Mel Gibson.

'Live' situations always have a minimum of thirty second delay, in which the producer often has fifteen seconds to cover the mishap so that by the time it reaches air it would be appropriately smothered.

By all the rights the producer should have used the ten-second delay of normal radio (i.e. news etc) to smother the obvious gaff, but perhaps he was too shocked to do anything.

All I can say is somebody seriously didn't think it through.

It's nothing new that positively themed news are never as good as those "Woohoo! Someone got raped, killed and raped again!" ones. And since I'm a modern spoiled and depraved news recipient, I like hearing about the worst and most obscure things that happen, and when they do so, get no know/see/hear the most interesting details. Call it morbid fascination, but I just like being fully imformed. In this particular situation that link provides wanted info and I don't care if they get one more click from me since that is a deserved click. That audio file prapably is already over YouTube anyway. And, apart from fascination, I may have been tired yesterday, but the audio file surely did help understand what the hell is happening for someone who didn't know about such a show as myself.

As a supporter of free speech and freedom of information, I'd say he's justified in saying whatever he wants on his station. If you find it morally reprehensible, you can help out by not listening to him and helping him with ad revenue. The same goes for the sensationalist news in Turkey. If somebody really wants to see that stuff, that's their own personal problem, and doesn't really affect me in any way. The problem here, as others have said, is the mother of this girl, who had the choice to go on the show. We don't have all the details, though, so maybe the girl wanted to go on. In this case, it's her own fault if she gets media attention for going on the media. Otherwise, the mother is a bitch for forcing her kid to go on this show.

That's almost as good as the link that was posted awhile back about the daughter who married her father. They were Australian.
