Hey all, I've been playing Arcanum for a while now and I have a few questions on some places, items, and monsters ;) .

First off, I'm a level 40 Tech, with max melee, dodge, prowl, pickpocket and lockpick. I have been using balanced swords as a main weapon since, well, the beginning of the game lol (I have yet to find better damage:fatigue ratio). I have also had Virgil and Magnus since to beginning too.

    Questions:

    1) Whats a better sword for me to use?

    2) How do you kill Fire Elementals?! I have yet to kill one because they destroy my armour, weapons, and kill me in like 3 shots.

    3) What is in the Thieve's Cave? I'm a human, so I cant fit, and I've tried casting shrink on myself - but I always resist it :\

    4) What is in the Uncharted Caves? Couldnt kill the Fire Elementals to see for myself :(

    5) How do I get into the Secret Enterance to the Iron Clan?

    6) Where is Warren Pel Dar (the guy you're supposed to tell that Maximus is still alive - on the Isle of Despair) I did that part so long ago, and I dont remember where the guy is :\

Edit: 7) How do you get Medical Arachnids to work? Its just sitting in my inventory, how do I turn it on?

Thats all I can think of at the moment, thanks in advance :)

    1. I like the barbarian sword. It is not magical however.

    2. I cast haste on my mage and then use harm on fire elementals. They die in 3 to 5 shots.

    3. Where is the thieve's cave? I've played several times and never seen it.

    4. Where are the uncharted caves? never found them either.

    5. you need the 3 items in the safe in Tarant at the museum. You need the book in the case at misk's house in caldon. I believe you also need one of the items that the panarii are keeping under those glass containers in the archiologist's room.

    6. I thought that I told one of the people at the entrance or told the king in waiting in the throne room.

The Thieve's Cave is NE of Bolo's Altar, or E SE of Roseborough. Its in the mountains, and you can only get it from the Roseborough/Caladon side. Co-ords: 1552W, 1536S

The Uncharted Caves are in the same little chunk of land that the Wheel Clan can be found, look on your map where you see the four tress south-west of the Wheel Clan. Directly north of the most northern-middle one is where you can find the Uncharted Caves. Co-ords: 1050W, 696S

Thanks, you use real-time combat? That might work with my elephant gun, right now I do turn based.

Since you're tech, the ultimate melee weapon is a pyrotechnic axe (its speed is only 5, but with 30-50 fire damage you won't have to repeat attacks too often :D The schematics are in Tarant, in Willoughsby's house underground.
With a balanced sword its indeed a problem. Take the same pyro axe (or maybe something less deadly like charged or envenomed sword), kill the beast and go to a nearest blacksmith to repair the axe and the armor
I haven't even heard of the Thieves cave. Can anyone explain?
Use advice 2 and find out :D
Again can't help, never done that quest.
Warren Pel Dar is long dead, talk to his daughter Lianna, the throwing expert from Dernholm (between the blacksmith and the general shop).
Never used them. Put them on the ground during combat? :???:

If you're forty tech, then a spell won't work on you. I didn't do the quest last game, and was fine. I'd just leave it if I were you.

I meant my character is level 40 (now 42) and is a tech ;) . He is 75% tech though. One other question, how many followers can you have? 2? Or is it because I have 9 charisma?

You can have one follower for each 4 charisma points. So add 3 more charisma and you'll get one more follower. If you're a persuasion expert it also gives you one more follower slot. Some followers can be taken for "free"- the dog of course, and Dante and Jormund if you know the trick (ask one of your followers to wait, accept Dante, ask him to wait, get your follower back, get Dante back).

    Charged Sword, Pyro Axe.

TBC & magic weapons often have a higher TH % against magical monsters than tech weapons.

A quest. You have to be in the Thieves' Guild to get it.

A few small items. Some EX points if you can kill the thing.

    Answered verry well above.

    Ditto.

    Throw it to deploy it.

I always use turn based. Yes, haste works that way as well. Actually in real time I have trouble following everything.

Is there also a mage cave? I heard that there was one but never ran into it.

    Me too.

I have found nothing named 'Mage Cave.'

I use turns also, but I just killed a ton of fire elementals like this:

    1) Turn real time on and tell your followers to wait - far from where you'll be fighting badies.

    2) Then use a haste potion, and get your weapon ready - in my case an Elephant Gun.

    3) Now all I do is run near the elemental, click, and watch me shoot it over and over and over, and when it gets too close I run back a little.

    4) Continue step 3 until you kill the creature.

    Works like a charm
