Hello, this is my first post to the forum, however, I have been looking at the forum for a week or so. I have a few questions that perhaps some of the more astute players can answer. 1) What tech levels do I need to have to build the pyro axe? 2) What time do I need to go to the house of Darke Magic in Tarant? 3) Can a truely evil character combine the Bangallian Scourge, Dark Helm and Shadow Shield for a +95 bonus to AC (counting a -100 character alignment and the alignment negatives on the armor)? 4) I've been using the Sword of Air for a while, is there a better sword out there? 5) How can I add some new weapons to the game without the necessity of creating an entirely different mod? Thank you for any help.
It must be written on the Pyro axe schematics. You know, where it shows what items you need, there are these little symbols and numbers? Well, the symbols mean tech disciplines in which you should have expertise, the numbers show how high your expertise must be. To know how much expertise you already have, look into your character's "profile" and click on the desired tech discipline. It must show a blue number. This number can be increased permanently by learning schematics from this discipline, or temporarily by carrying tech manuals in your inventory. The manuals can be purchased from the bookseller in the University of Tarant. By the way, if you're magick, using a Pyro axe is pure sucide- you will be more likely to cut off your own foot than the enemy's. Try after midnight and before 6 in the morning. He can- but he shouldn't. The Shadow Shield's magick bonus is 1/10 from the evil alignment+10 basic AC, so even with -100 alignment, your AC from the shield will only be 20. Take my advice, use an Arcane shield or a Screaming shield from Roseborough blacksmith, or a more common Shield of Force. Of course. Sword of Air is far from being the best. A Filament sword is probably the best one for characters with relatively low ST. Arcane swords are good (in fact, anything Arcane is good, except maybe the heavy armors- chain and plate). If your strength is high enough, you can use Mystic Great Sword, Arcane Great Sword, Arcane axe, Sword of Baltar, Barbarian Heavy Blade or the Bangellian Scourge itself.[/quote]
Ummm.. Sword of Baltar? Where do you find one? I've searched for forum and the only mention of it is being in the possession of the throwing check del something or other. Is there anywhere else to find it?
Its a unique item, to be found in possession of Lianna Pel Dar in Dernholm. I usually steal it with a fate point for Sogg Mead Mug. Oh and I almost forgot one of the best swords in the game- the unnamed sword you can find if you loot the corpse of your second opponent on the Isle of Despair. Its the fastest blade around (speed 20!) and has damage stats almost equal to those of Barbarian Heavy Blade.
Well crap. I'm way past the isle of dispair. I'm loitering around trying to get more levels and gear before I head off to Thanatos. Also trying to get the Dietys quest done. Do you have to sacrifice at some of the alters more than once? Prima's repeats some of the altars... Prima's lists Alberich, Makaal, Kerlin and Bolo twice on the list. Is this accurite?
Yep, it is correct. But you find more then enough offerings for all four of them, so don't worry. Don't worry about Arcane things either. The ghost of a certain old pirate has Arcane sword+shield+helm. Master mages of Tulla all have Arcane swords, daggers, robes, staves, and there's one or two Arcane bows there, too. The Cursed Paladin in the Bangellian Deeps has an Arcane axe. Also, I always seem to find an Arcane Great sword somewhere, most likely on Thanatos.
I'm way past all that. The only thing I haven't done is Thanatos and Tulla. I'm not sure about getting the stuff from the mages. I've kept a steady 100 alignment for a while. I suppose I could provoke one and then my followers won't bitch...
If you've got the cash, you can often buy arcance stuff from the gypsies. Just go from gypsy to gypsy and stock up. But remember, I think you need an MA of 80 to use the arcanes to their fullest.
If you have Torian Kel in your party, destroy the Scourge, tell the Bane of Kree in the Void you destroyed it, kill him, then get Torian Kell's Ancestrol Swrod off him and give it to Torian.
I'm too good for Kel. I've kept a steady 100 alignment through the game and haven't lost a single point. So, I think I'm just stuck with crappy damage on my main character. I've got 20 str, 20 dex, 20 con, Melee and Dodge master and I still hit for mid 20's. That's ok though. When I meet Annorax, I'll only have one thing to say. Sic 'em Dog. One thing that has been sticking in my craw for a while. What in the name of hell is metal shavings good for? Or Coal? Was this in there because they had plans to implement more tech and didn't have time? I can see metal shavings being used for making flechette(sp?) gernades. Coal could be used in Smithy for an improved sword.
Well, if 80 is my prereq, I'm out of luck there. I'm not quite at zero, but fairly close and actually leaning more toward the tech side. Perhaps that's part of the crappy damage I'm doing. Any other suggestions before I go and whip Annorax's ass like the sissy little hippy elf he is?
The blacksmiths of the Wheel clan and Caladon have a high chance of selling the Barbarian Heavy Blade. It does excellent damage and is very fast.
*****spoiler alert spoiler alert******** highlight to show arronax turns out to be a good guy... so killing him is bad!!!!!
