im running 98 and so far ive tried two different characters, when it get to the point where they are about to level up to 51 the tone sounds really loud and the game crashes back to desk top. now i used to run xp but got pissed at it and took it off, reformatting. while using xp i was able to level up past 50. is this just windows thing or what?
cheating yeah well i never let an opportunity pass me by. besides i never like the idea that im limited to only 50 levels. i went all the way and it kept going but i never got the points, so i looked for a fix. instant karma i guess.
Feldon: It's peteyj22's game, and he can play any way he wants to. And as I've said in another thread, the level 127 patch isn't that bad - it allows you to experience all the spells, skills and tech without starting new games over and over. peteyj22: Does the crash always happen? If yes, have you applied the patch correctly (a .exe and a .mes)? Note also the patch has different versions - they're for different versions of Arcanum.
127 well there were no intallation instructions, not even a read me. there was a dat folder i thing and then the exe. i just cut and pasted, and it always happens. well at least witht he two characters i have gotten that far with since the refomat.
The installation should be very simple... just extract the exe to overwrite the original arcanum.exe, and put the .mes file in datarules folder. Since it's "level-up over 50 then it will always crash"... I think it's the version of the patch and Arcanum do not match. Right-click on your original arcanum.exe (you have backup the original one, right?) and check it's version. Then make sure your level 127 patch is the same version. Make sure you have the latest offical patch, then apply the level 127 again. Both are available on T-A main site.
This is my first visit to the Tips'n'Tricks section in ages, and I'm only here to comment on this thread - Don't use the level cap remover. If Troika wanted you to become a super-powerful demi-god that has thousands of hit points, they would have made it that way. Instead, they at least want your character to be challenged upon occasion. The level cap remover, while useful for some, is still a cheat, and I am an anti-cheater.
pro cheater well im a pro cheater, and its on my computer. i just found it annoying that i reached a certain point and that i couldnt get anymore benefit from leveling up other than my npcs. the readjusted level ups are nice but not necessarily needed.
