jeez, you obviously didnt look had enough. GOOD games like this wont be found in the discount isle at comp USA. should have asked someone for directions to the nearest gametop/babbages/electronics boutique, i've been in a few different stores recently and 90% of the time arcanum is in a bargain bin or in the back with the other marked down games.

Well I did read the thread in its entirety. I only saw one post by you (excluding the one with the ebay link) which mentioned buying it new from Sierra. Unless, you are also MatahChuah, who was the first poster to mention ebay. I don't really understand what you are getting at here.

Anyway, I'd rather not go into any reasons why I don't like ebay. Let's just leave it at that. I don't want to get into any arguments here.

I'll probably just save up and buy it from the online store I found. I was just wondering if anyone had any other stores which sold it for cheaper.

I came across something interesting while searching Amazon.co.uk to see if they had anymore copies in stock of arcanum. Apparently arcanum is being re-re-released on budget for £4.99 and it will be availalbe on the 7th of november. So if there are some people who might still be looking for somewhere to get arcanum I would say check it out.

I myself decided against my better judgement to go with ebay to get my copy. I'm already coming up with some problems with paypal in that I have been charged a small amount for a paypal extended use account. All I can say is that I still feel a little uneasy getting it off of ebay, but I want to get the full boxed version with a manual. If there's one thing I hate more than anything it's manuals on cd's(commonly found in budget games), yes that's even more than ebay. I need something to read on the toilet :D

Hey Zappster, if you live in london, here are some good places that DO sell Arcanum - HMV (Oxford Street), Harrods, GaME (Oxford Street), Electronic Boutique (Tottenham Court Road) and Dixons (Oxford Street) You could also try Selfridges ?

    Hope I Helped

Rane, Zappster doesn't live in London, but Huddersfield (now, if that's a suburb to London, please give me a big kick in the ass, will you?)

And, you may also have noted, that he's off for the University in Manchester, which wasn't in London last time I checked. :)

    Oh... :/

Well Manchester is miles away from London, but Huddersfield is only about 40 minutes drive from Central London. :) And, Zappster, I've taken the liberty to check if theres a branch of GaME in Huddersfield, and guess what ? :D THERE IS :D It is located on 94-98 Quex Road. But the downside is that I'm not sure wether it sells Arcanum or not... :-?

Dark Elf, the University of Manchester may not be too far away from Central London because over here we have this stupid  system. The names of places are usually NOWHERE near the actually cities ! e.g Oxford University, located near Croydon (Outskirts of London) Not even close to the actual city Oxford (Which is up North England)

Kinda obvious. Since you initially wrote to me,

...I'm ironically replying with your same lack of politeness. ;)

In any case--and I'm addressing this to everybody, just so there's no mistake--several copies of the game are available via eBay in different nations, while Amazon gets copies periodically. Local discount stores sometimes have Arcanum, as well: hardly a sure thing, but when you really, really want an out-of-print game that isn't too old (don't bother looking there for Questron), they provide good possibilities. :)

Anyway, I'd rather not go into any reasons why I don't like ebay. Let's just leave it at that. I don't want to get into any arguments here.

Sorry if I appeared to be impolite but that's usually the way I post, you could say politeness is a virtue I lack :)

@Rane: Are we talking about the same Huddersfield here? I live in Huddersfield,West Yorkshire. I wasn't aware that there was another Huddersfield. Last time we went on a trip to London it took about 4 hours drive or something in that region. As to the university, I go to UMIST, which is about 5-10 minute walk from the manchester city centre(I believe)

Anyway just to update you guys on my situatuon I've decided to go with ebay( I made that decision last thursday) and I'm still waiting to be able to make a payment to the seller(I'm using paypal). I have to sign up for their extended use service or something. I have to say that the seller I found was nice and very helpful. My only problem is having to wait a couple of days for my credit card statement to come through so that I can finally get my extended use number, etc

    DARN PAYPAL :x

Damn. That first "Guest," above, is me. My cookie crumbled, as they say. ;)

Zappster, you're welcome to be impolite, of course, if you wish. Just don't express too much surprise at the context, as you did above, when others respond similarly. :D

As for Paypal, I never use them. I've had a bad experience in getting a refund once, where instead of simply providing me with a credit, they actually demanded the number of my bank checking account! I wrote off the relatively small loss to knowledge gained, and have never worked through them, since.

Don't worry about me I can handle myself. It wasn't really surprise on my part I was just wondering what you were getting at with that particular post. I've had worst posts written about me and have shrugged them off. After all this is only a messageboard, there's no need to get worked up over the things people post on it, that's what I say. Anyway let's just leave it at that shall we. I think I've spammed this thread enough

one final update. I have finally got my copy of Arcanum off of ebay. It was in bloody good condition as well. It even had the original wrapping around the box, manual and cd case. So I'm very pleased. Unfortunately I just started a game of Fallout(which I've never finished because I couldn't get into it), which I am now addicted to. So I intend to finish it before moving onto arcanum, but at least I have it. I'll probably install it to check it's working. You'll probably see me posting in the future with some questions on arcanum.

Thanks for the help guys it was much appreciated

Arcanum has indeed been re-released in the UK on the Xplosiv budget label for £4.99.

It gets a fairly favourable review in this months PC Zone.

But dude, for the future, if it's been 10 days and no one's touched it, don't touch it. Same rule for eating cheese. 10 days man.

If you'd spent as long as I did trying to find a copy of this game you might think it was relevant. Just trying to save somebody the hassle I went through. Still, point taken

You complain about it being ten days old?? Come on, that's not too bad. I mean, there are one or two YEAR old gravedigs round here. And he is new.

didn't your mom/dad learn you how to behave when you were a kid?
there was a reason for them learning it to you when you were young, cuse if you learn when you are young, you on't forget, now atleast he won't do any 2 year old ones.
