Fair weather theives

I searched for this in the forums and didn't find it.

I have a half elf feral child thief. I talked to the tarant underground contact and he told me to steal the golden idol from the barbarians...

After running in with virgil and dog and geting my but kicked royal, id did the prowl thing.

Anyway, I go back for my reward, and noone recognizes me? The underground contact just says hi, the fence says to talk to the shop keeper, and the shop kepper says he doesn't serve "my kind". whats up?

 

Did you do anything good ? Noble ? While you where on this quest ? :/

Because if you did, your "nobleness" could have went up a little bit, so then the thieves might have thought you were too "noble" :roll:

The only thing I could think of is I gave the painting to the women so I could get the blessing from the fortuneteller...

Heck, I'd sneak into peoples houses and steal them blind without them noticing, then kill them for fun....

I really don't care about the underground...I just need someone to get expert prowling from ...

geting rid of that stutue would help too...

 

You can always try the Dark Helm from the Wise Woman and lower your Alignment.
Save first in case there's something else wrong.

 

Don't do anything of the sort; the Dark Helm is absurdly buggy and not all in a good way. Your alignment is not an issue; I've done all the Underground quests at +100 good.

Standard questions: Are you patched? Modded? Tried reinstalling/repairing/reloading to before Kree? Did you visit the contact/fence/shopkeeper before, and were they rude to you then or was everything okay?

BTW, did you try to give the idol to the leader and not the fence? He's the one who takes it, IIRC. Won't do much for the shopkeeper's attitude but at least you'll be rid of it.

 

I haven't reloaded/reinstalled...but I am patched. I also have -10 alignment. I have some extra backgrounds that I made, but no mods (was thinking about the level 51-127 mod...).

And I talked to every underground member in the tarrant, with or without dog...I just don't get it....

I've stolen the idol and gotten the reward with a nearly 100 good alignment. I also returned the painting and never had a problem getting jobs in Tarant or Caladon.

You have to return the idol to Thadeus Mynor. If you stole the Tarant sewer plans to get into the Underground he was the guy that gave you the job.

 

I took it to everyone.

 

If you have expert haggle, you can sell it to anyone for a decent price, but you should be able to take the idol to Thadeus Mynor over at the end of the docks near the Gypsy to complete the quest - unless you accidently killed him. I've completed this quest after doing all the good deeds to be done in Tarant and had no problems, so alignment is indeed no problem. I've even completed the quest, picked Thadeus's pocket and sold the idol to Mr. Black for more than I got for doing the quest. :thumbup:

You may have a different problem. Did you get scarred? You could be suffering a bad reaction that is causing the shopkeepers not to talk to you. If so, get healed to get rid of the scars and that should fix it.

I know what your problem is. Did you ask the Halfling shopkeeper 'What do you mean by Specialized?'. By doing so, it makes hi think you are totally clueless to criminal activities, and thus he doesn't serve 'your kind'. Next time, tell him that you do use specialized goods... or somthing like that.
