Help - Unchangeable low dexterity

In my game, my lead character has (seemingly all of a sudden) dexterity of 1 (and its in red) ..I run really slow *almost in bursts* and I cant figure out whats doing it

Someone suggested is was my equipment..so I went to a dresser and dumped all my stuff (stuff I was wearing, and stuff I had in my bag) into the dresser ..

The dex didnt change .....I think this happened after I explored the Tarent sewers and found a sword that was magical (or cursed..I cant tell the difference)

I really dont want to start a new game ..My guy is lvl 18..and I've done a lot ..


Any ideas what to do?

check your curse tab, or your injury tab. You might be missing a leg. :smile:

 

I checked there and I have no curses
and all injuries I have treated ..

 

Same thing happento me too. I think some curses are permanent unless you make some offering to a god or something.

 

Where can I do that?

Ah ..so if I make an offering to the Arcanum God "Makaal" ..it will put my dex back to normal?

 

I'm not sure but it will give you a definite increase since you will gain additional bonuses by blessings.

I launched my game, and I realized I'm cant make it to the first god offering (Ter'el) because I have no means of getting there (Im just about to explore the Black Mountian Cave, then this happend

 

Well

just incase... if you don't sleep in a real long time it begins to affect you... that might be in.. so rent a bed, sleep two nights, save and load and see what you got.

Any and all injuries/curses would be listed..so i don't think thats it... my theif (22 dex) got down to 5 once and i got all freaked.. i slept it off, maybe same is true for you, goodluck

I tried that ..it didn't do anything ..

Whatever is (or was) effecting me takes away 7 dex (im assuming)

Arcanum support emailed me back telling me to change my desktop to 16bit color, turn off all programs in the background, etc etc

I knew those wouldn't solve my problem ..but I tried it anyway

It did nothing

So I finally decided to use a Save Game editor

I boosted my dex up to 20 something (leaving everything else alone) and when I got in the game my dex was 13 (still in red tho)


*shrugs*

At least I can still use my orignal char

next i check if you had any unidentified items or cursed items on, even if something doesn't mention it ... it might have bonuses/negs (negotiators ring. says only "negotiators ring" but gives like 2 beauty and cha) so take off your pieces one by one and check that, then, go to doc roberts in shrouded hills and have him heal you (maybe you have a crippling injury that it doesn't mention), use bread and water (from inventory click on the hand) it then gives you a gear pointer, and click on yourself to eat it, that might help, hmm after that... i cant really think of anything else, if you are a melee char thou, i really suggest just starting over... believe me, game is just as fun, and goes by a lot quicker the 2nd/3rd time you play .. hehe, if your a melee, its worth it. Well..none of that worked ..

I tried starting over ..but I had a lot harder time then I seemed to have had in the beginning

I cant seem to get a good enough character again....any recommendations*sp* on a good scheme?

 

Half Ogre with the Ladies Man background. It's great. :smile:

 

I restarted the game as a thief and apparently I wasn't as far as I thought

Getting back to where I was is a breeze..and I'm not making the mistakes I made the first time

Not to mention that being a thief is fuggin awesome!
