What happens if the follower dies or leaves and you can buy manuals to get the expertise needed to create items anyway.
So go to the Vendigroth Ruins and get one. Or two. Or three. Or, like I think Gargob said, make it yourself, sheesh.
It's too bad followers can't learn schematics really... but I don't really think Troika will do anything about it now . SPOILER ALERT But really, why would you need Magnus to learn schematics anyway? I recently played as a very persuasive mage character (with a very large group) and having Magnus along was like having a personal armory. Magnus meant that I could equip Sogg, Chukka and the others with heavyweight armours and weapons. Not too shabby. Adding Mechanic Armor to that would be like icing on the cake - nice but not needed.
What? In terms of armor and weapons, Magnus can make the Balanced Sword, Ultralite Axe, Dwarven Gauntlets, and Eye Gear. That's not much in the way of armor, but the Axe leads to the uber-powerful Pyrotechnic Axe. Too bad Magus doesn't advance further in his technical disciplines. (He's probably the most-edited follower.)
what do you mean most edited? either way i kinda disagree about something someone said in one of these threads, i forget who it was or what exactly was said but it was basically something about how you get more control over npcs in Arcanum game than in the baldur's gate series. how the heck do you figure that? you could control their every move in that game, in this one they just follow you mindlessly, you cant teach them anything from scrolls or schematics, and Virgil heals you even when you have a 100% tech bias, i can count the times hes driven himself to unconscoiusness trying to heal me on 57 pairs of hands, not having had any effect on me whatsoever... plus you cant even tell followers to heal other followers etc... or tell them when to cast a spell from a scoll, or command them to move individually...
why the heck cant anyone spend money? i mean, people see a sword/gun or something they like and they slaughter ten store owners, people hear about tech manuals= can i steal it? the only stealing you need to do is midnight pickpocketing sleeping people, then you can buy whatever you want and you take no reptation penalties
I think Sleek_Jeek's right I mean what's the point in having money and not using it. When you have buy something as part of the storyline people who don't like to spend money are probably gonna spend a fate point or kill the person to get their money back.
