Just out of curiosity, what is your favorite genre of game? Mine is Simulation. What is your's? Thank you! (I say Roleplaying will get the most votes here, but I could be wrong.)
RPG definitely! Diablo2, Arcanum, Baldurs Gate 2, Icewind Dale, Nox, NeverWinter Nights... You name it.
Your definition of "RPG" is clearly looser than that of many other people. Of the titles you mentioned, I'd only consider Arcanum an RPG.
haha My diagnosis concurs with Dr. Canis'. Your definition of an RPG is too broad. Baldurs Gate II, I can understand. I could even manage to see some of the multiplayer RPGs you mentioned as role play, if one were to actually play out roles. But Diablo II? Gag me. RPGs are my favourite, and my favourite RPG is one only I play with myself and my imagination, followed closely by Dungeons and Dragons, followed closely by Arcanum. I like the books made from Diablo II. I'm a heavy reader. If my time and memory and eyesight were limitless, I'd read every book in the library.
can say really... i like strategy and RPG's equally. but it all depends on the game. they have a few good rpg's and a few good strategy games that i like. so i can't make that decision.
I really like Rise of Nations and Morrowind right now. Can't decide which I like more. I'm a big fan of the C&C games as well. In general I like RPG's better though.
RPG's are my favorite especially the ones that have good character creation system like Arcanum. I also like Fallout 2, Deus Ex, and Torment. I also like some adventure games like The Longest Journey, and Grim Fandango.
My favorite genre of computer games would have to be strategy, especially turn-based ones since I can relate them to chess, a turn-based strategy game in its own right which I enjoy. My favorites in TBS are Disciples II and Age of Wonders and in RTS (Real Time Strategy) Age of Empires II and Mythology. RolePlaying comes in at a VERY close second, I find them to have more depth in gaming involvement than Strategy games but are less enjoyable in the long run compared to Strategy games, which just have to be the genre with the highest playability period. I make it a point that for a game to be good it has to have decent playability (e.g. the length of time you can enjoy it before it bores you). My favorites in this respect are Arcanum (obviously) and NeverWinter Nights.
Always nice to see a thread of mine get 15+ posts. Thanks for your input. P.S. This is my 100th post. I'm a bow!
