    hi,
I am wiping hundreds, thousands of bugs during localization of Arcanum to Polish.
Here are two problems that I can't resolve:
    - what is DOT?
    - Speaking with Ogdin (01069) I hear: "I recently saw a book, by ." Yes, the author is not there. Whom should I put there?

    thanks in advance

    Welcome to the forum, mnez!

What do you mean by DOT?

    help the localization - DOT

DOT is related to item effect, like here:

DR:+20%, PR-100%, Poison and FT DOT.

DR:ER:FR:MR:+20%, PR-100%, Poison and FT DOT.

We in Poland have no bloody idea what this FT DOT is...

    DoT

DOT is a acronym for Damage over time. In the case of the example cited, if you put that item on your fatigue will slowly drain away.

Does that mean it is offensive? How would you translate it then?

No old boy, it's notin like that, but if you wnat to know. I since he is on the translation team I asked him if there are actors reading text, you see most games that come out here are translated by lamebrains, maybe he will take offence now but, I give him an example Deltaforce landworrior or Operation Flashpoint. That is why I get my friend to send me stuff from Canada. But sometimes both versions come out English and Polish I though maybe he knew?
But I geuss he is not a very frequent visitor. So If you were hoping that I said that I think you had a cute ass I'm sorry to dissapoint you!

Thanks everyone; DOT is now resolved.
Now I must guess whom book Ogdin referred to.

The text I mentioned is not spoken, it is displayed on the item effect list.

    cheers,
    mnez

I didn't say I was "offended" or feel like somebody got "offended." I was asking what it was when translated because I donot know the language. You are the one that started the "offense" thing.

I was watching this show last week where when we, the natives of this land, go to other countries like America and work there. The owners or manager would not allow us to speak in our native language as such many people might find it offending. Like, why would we want to talk using our native tongue? Actually, it's easier but I've seen people talk in different language as shown with a grin in his face but actually he is insulting this person.

I know what you mean, people give me weird looks when I talk with my friend in a foreing language. That is why I said sorry at the start, some people don't mind, but there are some bungholes who do.

hehehe... well in my first visit to USA I had a fight with a black guy in NY in train station... I didn't speak english and as far as I guest he was offering his services and was very notorios... so I just told him in my native with a kind smile:" thank you, I don't need your services". That fuck jumped up and grabbed me... well my mood had changed too and we got into fight

    hehehe...
