y r weapons red when equiped??

How come sometimes when I equip a weapon it will be colored red and say something like msr or something I dont remember right now at the bottom of it?...is it because its really slow or am I lacking stats/skills to use it right?..any help appreciated.

 

MSR = Minimum Strength Rating. It's the strength you need to operate a weapon effectively. If it's red, you don't have the required strength.

 

And you will get speed and damage penalties.

ok so the sword i found down in the dwarven burial grounds under p schuler and sons when i put it on its say msr-13 ..so 13 is the str I need?..ugh I only have 9...not sure 4 lvls of points in str would be worth it..unless better weps out there require str...Im a gunslinger...do some better guns need higher str or dex or per?..I think i have 9 str 8 dex 11 per...and Im using the quality revolver right now....btw thnx all
