I'm in a sort of pickle...I at the point where I'm supposed to go to the Black Mountain Clan Mines. I thought I should beef up my lvl 10 guys (Virgil + Magnus) so I checked out TA for quests. Well now I'm stuck! My guys asses get kicked at the elven ruins, can't continue with the conspiracy quest, and I even tried that graveyard thing in Ashbury, but still get beaten up! What should I try???
Madm Lil's quests are good. And on the second one you can just keep asking the guy for money over and over.
If you are a mage I recomand Fireflash as your main spell. Then yo can jsut travel encounter fireflash fireflash travel encounter fire.....etc
I'm not really sure what exactly I'm playing as...I've got points on pick lock, pick pocket, prowling, throwing, Harm Spell, and 1 schematic which I needed for another quest. I've already done the Madam Lil quests(except for the 4th) and how am I supposed to get Fireflash if I can't get points!!!
you could try the ashbury castle since it's not that hard, or you can do quests for liams mother in blackroot or maybe the dernholm king related quests(someblackroot thieves involved)
Leveling can be hard if you are still weak at level 10. 1. You can put the difficulty level down to easy, this just lets your level up faster. Then just put it back a bit later for more of a challenge. This is found in your options menu. 2. You may want to get Sogg in your party, he lives in Shrouded Hills at the inn/bar. He is strong and can do most of the fighting when you are having troubles. Although you gain experience through hits and kills so...*shrugs*. And you need 9 Charisma for him to get in your party. 3. There are some decent monster in the old sewers(Tarant) if you don't know where the location of this sewer is I will describe it for you. Hope this helps a little, Good Luck
Ok, a little more about my present state. I already got Sogg but ditched him for Magnus (which I regret cuz if I go back he'll be a few levels lower). I don't wanna lower difficlty but the sewers is a good idea, thanks!!!
The conspiracy quest leads to a dead end, even says so in the strategy guide, I think maybe the whole ordeal was meant as a prelude to a future story in a sequel to Arcanum (not sure, just hoping). Madame Lil's quests are pretty easy untill she asks for the Amulet of Beauty which only has a five percent chance of showing up in magic shops. I only have four citites available to me and I've made it to level 14, Shrouded, Dornholm, Blackroot, and Tarant. I believe I've spoken with everyone in all four cities so I'm not sure how everyone is finding Ashbury and Caladron. Let me warn however that Black Mountain was extremely difficult for me even at level 14 and I was still unable to venture through all parts of it. I would suggest thouroughly speaking to everyone in the four cities I mentioned, as well do some pointless running around in circles on the world map in hopes of random encounters.
Ashbury Acacia: If you run around the map along the coast to the right side of Tarant next to the island you'll find Ashbury. Most of the main cities are along the coasts. You can find most points of interest in the game just by wandering back and forth across the world map. Hope this helps. _________________ -Beelzebubba [ This Message was edited by: Beelzebubba on 2001-09-07 18:51 ]
Thanks Beezle, I haven't tried wandering to far out on the map and have only been bothering with cities if I'm directed there by someone. Bates just marked Ashbury on my map, but thanks for the advice, some locals have opened to me just simply by passing by them on the map, but once again, I usualy don't bother with them unless it's part of a quest, I'm afraid of venturing into something my characters might not be ready for or botching a quest by prematurely obtainig a key item and losing it before ever encountering the person that the item goes to.
World map... That's probably a wise choice until you've built your characters in power. Some of those map points are pretty tough. Kree is one that's pretty hard, it's full of buffed up barbarians with good armor and weapons, and they're mean if you're not prepared for them. Have fun finding all the hidden map spots. _________________ -Beelzebubba [ This Message was edited by: Beelzebubba on 2001-09-08 17:57 ]
Thanks Beezle, actualy I have the strategy guide which shows all locations, but I didn't study it too hard as I don't wanna spoil much, however with a quick glance, I've come to find that there are a good number of hidden spots on the world map, enough to make it worth playing through the game a second and third time. WooHoo! =D
