can a thief backstab with a gun?

like there is hushed pistol right? well can a thief backstab with that on later lvls?

Short answer? No. You can only backstab with a dagger, or later with more training, a sword or axe. Think stabbing or slashing weapons only.

On the other hand - using ANY weapon on an unaware opponent gives you a 'to hit' bonus. This also applies to opponents on the ground or stunned. So sneaking up behind someone with a hushed revolver isn't such a silly idea - just don't sneak right up close to them, use the hushed revolver's range to give you some breathing space is your first shot doesn't take them out (which is likely as the hushed revolver doesn't have much of a kick).

The downside of most firearms, is letting them off alerts guards/monsters in a wide radius, whereas a hushed revolver should let you pick of enemies one by one if you wish...haven't tried this out myself yet though.
