Want to level up but keep getting butt kicked

I haven't been playing Arcanum all that long but my main problem is leveling up. I go out to fight monsters but a lot of times I end up hitting some really strong creatures that kick the living daylights out of me and my followers. Is it just easier to complete quests to level up or is there an area where there's weaker enemies to fight? It's kind of frustrating and any help would be useful.

Yes, especially at lower levels, nearly all of the wildlife of Arcanum can kick your butt, so focus on some relatively 'safe' quests to build up your experience to start with AND get some decent equipment. You'll be surprised how much difference some decent weapons and armour will make.

You'll be out and about running around with an elephant gun (or a fireflash spell) in no time!!
