i remember seeing one to buy in my previous adventures, i need it to make a feather weight axe...i have gone to many cities looking for one at the general stores...and i can't seem to find one...is there something i am missing?
Well, they usually appear in junk traders' inventories, if I recall correctly. Just keep resting in Tarant or something. My memory's a bit fuzzy... but I think I remember the Wheel Clan armourer (you'l get to the Wheel Clan about halfway into the game) sells them. There's also a chance you'll come across one in the BM mines. The best option is to rest in Tarant though.
You find them at general stores and those scrap merchant type people. You may occaisionally find one in a weapons merchant if you're lucky. Unfortunately, they're a random item. You may have to wait outside a shop and sleep for a while before they arrive instock - the same principle as tech schematics and other rare tech items, such as the steam engine. It just takes patience, and a hell of a lot of time.
I often see them at blacksmith shops & far less often at the quality armor shops. Power shopping; go two or three screens from the shops you want to check. Save, advance time to morning, look. If no axe handle, restore & repeat. The new next day will be different.
That's cause he is a junk dealer. And don't forget the junk dealer in The Boil. 'Most expensive axe handle in arcanum.'
You don't even have to move a couple of screens away, just stand next to the shop keeper and move the screen so he's not on it.
Actually my favorite place to get oak axe handles is from the guy on the docks in tarant (who almost always has em for me), and a good way to pass time while you wait for one (if you have to wait) is, if youre a good theif, steal the key offa one of the magic shop merchants, and unlock the unguarded chest (The guarded one if you have balls.) then just keep taking the scrolls and selling em to all the shopkeepers in tarant, 'till they're all broke, its a good way to get really rich . Nice thing is, the shopkeeper you're stealing from is an idiot, and you can sell the same stuff to him over and over .
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't Mr. Plough's warehouse have at least a few? I seem to remember three or four oak axe handles lying around in boxes and crates in there, free for the taking.
No... I don't remeber seeing any Oak Axe handle... but what I do remember is that in a chest there're like 4 dwarven ore rocks! Those that only appear to buy in the Wheel Clan and the smith in Caladon.
yeah, there is a chest with those in it, very handy, and sadly, no there are not oak axe handles in there...but, I've confirmed the fact that the salesman on the docks across from the prostitute house does sell those almost all the time (to me anyways, I dunno about the rest of you *shrugs*)
Bah, I remember back in the good oooold days when we could go out and chop an oak tree and make our own handle. Ya lazy bastards.
