I get this message when I try to use found tech schematics, can this be fixed by simply buying manuals, or will I have to get a certain intelligence or get to a certain tech level, or is it just that I am 40 in the magick direction?

I just bumped into this one but I cracked this puzzle about found schematics.

In the case that got you stuck, 1 of the ingredients uses expertise from another discipline.

I was trying to make Pyro-Axe for smithy. It's in smithy but it uses fuel, which requires expertise in (I think) chemistry.

Manuals are enough but you have to have considerable intelligence for them to be of any use (that is add to your expertise some more than just 2 per manual). You can use potion of intellect since you're a mage. Btw manuals check for intelligence the moment you place them in your inventory. First make your IN go higher than pick up the manuals. Of course there is a quesiton o fusing tech items being a mage - unless you have a tech follower leave it.

Zubbus you can buy fuel at stores and buy books for the expertise.

Go to your Charicter sheet & look at the tech section. In a small window on each page, there is a blue number. As you are a mage, it should be zero. This is your tech expertise in each disipline. The tech manuals raise this by your IN X # of manuals.

Potions of IN raise your IN by 10. So if you have IN 8 & want to make a Pyro Axe, you need 3 Smithy & 1 Explosive manuals. OR a potion of IN, 2 Smithy, & 1 Explosive.

As Dragoon said, the manuals check for IN on the way in. So, drink the potion, then load the manuals on board.

BTW, the IN potion works on Techies too, but I don't think it lasts as long for them. I have climbed several tech trees with potions of IN.

    Still having this problem

I did the raising my skillz and intel, but could not make Droch's Warbringer, what is the second tech skill necessary and is there something else, or is it just the Vendigroth schematics are unusually challenging

Look at the numbers next to the two components in the schematic. It shows an icon for the disciplines needed, and the expertise required in both. I know that Droch's Warbringer requires an Ancient Gun Chassis and Mithril Ore, not sure about how much expertise required.

BTW, the weapon kind of sucks unless you have Otto Krupp's Gun Mod.

So, with enough manuals, a layman (or even a mage) who's never invented a bloody thing in their life, can build highly sophisticated ancient machinery?

I suppose that's fair, considering that you've just done a huge amount of research at high monetary cost.

Hey, where did you guys find Mithril ore?

I found it in one of the two barrels at one of the shopkeepers in Blackroot harbor...

Well, I don't beleive it's that good, I like my handcannon more :)

Some inventions require an ingredient that's another invention.
As mentioned in some other threads. Some of these things are hard to come by (or even only available from learn schematics).

So when your mage has all the found schematics and all the expertise you need, you'll find you're still missing an ingredient for the kickass ______ you're trying to make.

Indeed, as long as you have the required components. Best use for the manuals is to build the Vivifier (permanent +1 to all stats) -- the schematic and both components are found in the Vendigroth Ruins.

It's all over the Dredge in the Wheel Clan, and you can purchase it from the Wheel Clan smith.

Hey, where can you find Salpeter anyway, I mean, ALOT of it?

I find Charcoal everywhere, but not Salpeter... But I used my l33t theiving skills to steal the gunsmith in Tarant's stuff, so I got SOME Saltpeter :D

Salpeter is hard to find for free. It is sold in every general store, but sometimes it can be found for buying in herbalist or inventor shop. If you want a lot of it, park yourself in front of general store, and
    REPEAT
    buy salpeter
    wait till morning
    UNTILL enough. :D

Bullets are not that cheap at all for a techie in the beginning of the game.

Nimhrgh don't you actually have to move away from the store for its inventory to respawn?

And Gwindor to reduce your bullets usage you should get a better gun. It is possible to have a Long Range Rifle before you head to Black Mounain Clan mines.

I just leave the store with all my companions, wait till morning and then come back in. Items won't respawn if I wait int he store during night. Also, in my expereance, not all intems respawn every day.

Tho it drains bullets, it still shoots HARD... MY other weapons just use MORE bullets (like repeater rifle)

The Repeater is not as good as the Fine Revolver.

If you realy want to burn ammo, wait till you find the schematics for the Charged Accelerator Gun & the Mechanized Gun.
