I have a Duron 750. The game is fine when the party is small, but with 8 followers, frame rate drops signigficantly(still very playable, just choppy), especially when near a pub.

    Anyone else has similiar issues?

Turn off the background noise on your computer.

If you hit Ctrl, Alt, & Delete at the same time, a window will pop up shpwing EVERYTHING currently running & give you an optition to shut each one down. All you need running is explorer & systray.

That will speed things up. Not enough.

As this game is graphics intensive, this could be just the excuse you need for a new graphics card.

Or even a whole new machine. :D

Arcanum simply has a slowdown bug. It just happens on some machines regardless of the system specs. It has been thoroughly discussed and some sloutions were given so you might want to do a search for "slowdown". Perhaps some recipe will work for you - no guarantee though.

Well, I got a 400 Mhz, the game is very playable everywhere except in Tarant... Then the frame rate drops VERY much... I have 192 MB RAM and Riva TNT2 Graphic card...

Anyway, for some reason the game also lags when I use Morgana's tears (becuse of that lil' angel-like thing that appears) and other graphical effects, like explosions and magic...

Strange thing is how other games like Fallout 2 doesn't lag at all, at any time... Oh man, I gotta borrow that game again... :D

I had a system almost exactly like yours and got slowdowns in areas with many people ie. pubs, hotels, Tarant centre. I didn't get problems with explosions and such. As I said this games works differently on every computer in our universe. And sometimes it works differently even on the same puter on different days. :)

I can understand your case. Fallout 2 is nowhere near as graphically intensive. For starters, it doesn't use a 3D graphics card. Fallout 2 requires pentium 90 MHz and an SVGA card.

Baldur's Gate 2, for example, has a very flexible configuration AND it detects your hardware on install. In the case of a 400 MHz, it'll disable the most demanding effects. Here in Arcanum, not so much...

Well, what I mean is there is not really many graphical improvements in Arcanum from Fallout 2 except for special effects...

Arcanum's graphics, even though quite good imo, in no way justify poor performance. There should definitely be more configuraiton options.
