Anyone else think Multiplayer sucks?

I tried it last night, and I'm really disappointed. In fact, the Multiplayer in Arcanum is just plain awful.

I turned off player killing and friendly fire as the server preferences. In the middle of combat, I accidentally clicked on my friend and I killed him. WTF?

The Real Time Combat of Arcanum is dreadfully done as well. Unless something hits you, you have to click on that Combat Button, then click on what you want to attack. There's some major room for streamlining there.

It's also really annoying that things can get where you can't see them with no indicator of where things are in RT. If you've played Voormantown at all, you'll know what I mean. In that forest, there's no way to see what's going on in those passage ways.

However, you're forced to play multiplayer in real time only, which is one of the biggest reasons that MP sucks.

    Thank you, Mr. Productivity.

There's no enjoyment at all in multiplayer. It's horrible.

Once you actually get a copy, you'll see what I mean.

And what I`m saying is that you should just enjoy the other aspects of the game, and let idiots like me do the whining. I guess your complaint may be valid, but when I compare it to me not having the game at all(thus causing me to ravage on in a angry-spam rage), I fail to generate any sympathy at all for you oppinion...

I dunno about that. I was much happier not knowing how bad Multiplayer was.

There's another problem also. Teleportation Scrolls will get you back to town. However, once you get to town, you still have to walk all the way back to where you were. This is hardly convenient or fun.

    Alright, alright...

    I've tried the MP too.

First of all, it's laggy as heck. Combine that with the furball that is realtime mode, and you get something resembling ANYTHING but control. I won't even consider playing with more than 2 other people.

Secondly, the maps are rather combat intensive. And large. This gives a rather stale feeling after the 14th barely controlled fight. What with the resolution...good luck finding bits which you haven't walked to.
The inability to rest really screws up things, too. Oh wow, it's night and now we can't see! Time to up that gamma!
No, lanterns were not sold. Funny.

And teleportation...huh. That that's a level 5 spell, and requires 18ish WP...Meaning specialisation in conveyance, AND a hefty amount of levelling, which you CANNOT do in one session. I invite you to prove me wrong otherwise. Conveyance is pretty damned useless in MP, too.

Oh, and Zen...if you admit you cannot post a serious reply, why bother?

"I guess your complaint may be valid, but when I compare it to me not having the game at all(thus causing me to ravage on in a angry-spam rage),.. " ...isn`that explanation enough?
Since I don`t have the game it`s increasingly difficult to participate in a meaningful discussion. I have ofcourse the option of not posting at all, but since I`m on "an angry-spam rage trip" that wouldn`t be very sensible now would it?

Damn. I was planning on actually waiting to get the game until I could team up with my buddy and play coop.
This means I should get it right now and play solo, right?

    FWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I'm back again!

And SP I wholeheartedly agree, may I throw something else in here?

You can do some EXTREME leveling up if you lock a game for yourself, and go on your own, you can gain 20 or so levels easily, escape, quite the game, save your char, he/she is still alive and BOOM your rich/high on XP

They'd better start working on the patch asap and focus on A: optimizing this game so it actually runs on the specs listed (My second machine, 64 megs of ram 366 mghz, and 8 gigs of space will not run this game.)
B: MP, Turnbased is the only way to do this unless they want something thats like hack n slash like D2

Well, you can play on your own and level up in most every "RPG" that offers multiplayer. I don't have a problem with that.

But yeah, the game really needs Turn Based in multiplayer.

Well maybe Im the only one, but i prefer the real time mode. I hated fallout when I had went to kill everyone in town and had to wait for each npc to make their move. It made a fight 30mins that coulda been 3mins. A chain gun in real time, thats what i'd like to see! Real time ownz, =D

Look at how you have to play it thoguh, the lag code is horrible, might as well not bother with a ranged char because they run up to you so damn fast

Krix is right. Real Time in multiplayer favors melee way too much, especially with the lag. The fact combat is only triggered when the player is hit puts gunslingers at a disadvantage.

After all, to balance the range of bows/guns/long range weapons, they do less damage than their melee counterparts. When you're in a laggy situation, the enemies can close on you while you're trying to click on them.

However, if you hit that "R" key, and it goes in to TB, you stand a chance at getting in several shots before they can close in.

If we had the stances like we did in FOT, it wouldn't be too much of a problem, they would blast whoever is nearest
but that has drawbacks as well, sometimes you have to be tactical about who you take down
