Lockpicks

Where can I find a lockpick since I didnt buy it at the start of the game..

Theyre found randomly in the mine. Some character get em others don't. It's mostly dependant on luck.

Do u mean Bessies Mine?. When I was there didnt find lockpicks. Do u know if they can appear if I go back there?

Is there any way to open locked chest, barrels,... without lockpicks and with low picklocking skill?.

 

You can usually just bash 'em open (go into combat mode, press "alt" and click on the object you want to break open), but be careful which weapon you use as the weapon is likely to be damaged.

 

And you can only get 1 mine raid. The monsters won't respawn and no new items will show up.

 

So goodbye to lockpicks? What a ****. Lol.

 

well they arnt really needed. with a lvl 4 lockpicking skill you can pick just about anything. With max the town is ur playground.

 

Plus there's a spell that pops locks - kinda loud though...

 

Yea, I did some testing with that, and after 7 tries I unlocked the window to Jongles house, but he was waiting for me inside...

 

I was really disappointed with the tech picklock.. auto-skullkey or whatever. +10 to Pick Lock.... I was hoping for +25 at least.

 

Unlocking Cantrip for spells but it makes too much noise that any NPC in the area will attack you.

 

pretty sure there's a set of crude lock picks that isn't randomly spawned.. except u can't make the techie thing with it.

if i remember correctly it's in the cave in the starting map.

Don't forget that there are probably advanced schematics for lockpicking devices to be found that give bigger bonuses than the Auto Skeleton key's 10%. (And hey, don't knock 10%!)

 

Can the schematic be found in the demo version?

lockpicks found in wolf cave, always I believe

wolf cave was part of demo near the crash site but has moved. I found it somewhere near Liam Cameron's house, and yes there were lockpicks.

One question for anyone who knows:

If I only have one set of picks, and 'USE' them to try to open something, and Virgil tries to do it for me, he's not using any lockpicks, is he? How can I attempt to pick a lock w/o 'using' the lockpicks ??

I usually try to cantrip locks but that works infrequently, though I'm 25th level. I DON'T want to have to put points in lockpick, and using a Fate point on a non-essential lock would suck.

You can puchase lockpicks in Tarant. You have to steal the map to the sewers and become part of the thieves underground, when you do, you are given directions to a secret, shady dealer that sells them amongst other items that are difficult to come by.
I wasn't able to pick anything without the lockpicks, the option to do so wasn't available to me. Also one you become part of the thieves underground you'll find folks that will start teaching you advanced thieving skills, such as the shop owner down by the docks in Tarant who offers expert pickpocket lessons! =)
