Hoho - looks like you're having a good summer. The pool wasn't full of beer too by any chance, was it?

 

No. It'd be pretty expensive to fill it all with beer, seeing that the pool holds about 3500 litres... at about 80 euro's for a 50-litre keg, that comes down to a nasty 5600 euro's of beer it'd take. We're not that rich, sorry.

The crates aren't filled with beer anymore, either. All the bottles in there were emptied by *hic* natural means. That's 78 crates x 24 bottles x 33 cl = 624 litres of beer. We filled the bottles with water after that for extra weight. We then put wood against the inside. Then some isolation foam, then two layers of plastic and then it was all DONE! It comes with a pump, filter, and a heater, too. A housemate who works as a welder made the heater. We generally just scour the neighborhood and get old wood from stuff people throw away. The first evening, we heated it by burning up an old piano we had.

There's nothing quite like sitting in your own pool with water at 32 degrees, 3 am, while holding a beer and smoking a joint...

For the record: The 78 crates were emptied over the course of several weeks. Though some of my housemates are pretty impressive when it comes to alcohol tolerance, our livers are (still) not strong enough to process THAT much beer in a single sitting.

 

Well, getting that drunk wont make your liver any stronger.

Damn, Calis, you are one skinny bastard! Also, as if you need to run a heater to keep your pool warm - in summer here, for a couple of hours (at least) after the sun has gone down it's still warm, and the pools are bigger as well. Anyway, that must have been pretty fun...

How long did it take you to do it ?

 

The dude behind me isn't Vin Diesel, it's Karim, a former housemate who still drops by regularly to generally be a parasite and leech off our fabulous resources such as the pool. A lot of former housemates do that. The girl next to him his Mirjam, his girlfriend.

Well, once we had the crates, it only took like three days to get it done. Then we waited about a week after which a housemate brought in the heater and the pump.

2. Got this one for my birthday, along with a whole load of other useless crap, from my friends at the study association's Beer Committee. (whee.)

 

I'd rather fill your pool than mine. Mine is 50000 litres. I can't imagine the cost of the beer required to fill that...

I also calculated once in the bottle shop that a slab of 24 beers (375 mL each) was better value than a 5 litre keg, given their prices at the time. Fucking weird if you ask me...
