I have an unreasonable hatred of all Blizzard games, especially Warcraft - except, of course, TheLost Vikings. Many an hour spent on that one.

Those Dwarven soundbites are pretty good though, I gotta admit.

so - is it clear that Morrowind takes the cake?

and Settler, it's common knowledge that you can't remote link from Geocities, or most other free webhosts for that matter.

Jarinor, is the ability to jump from high buildings without getting hurt tied to an attribute or skill of some sort? I used to take lots of damage when jumping from the foreign canton, but now I don't take any damage.

And I agree that Morrowind becomes boring after a while, especially at higher levels. enemies become fodder and you have so many valuable items you don't know where to sell them. Money becomes no object after selling a few Daedric weapons... they shold take Creeper out of the game or something. And the way dialogue is handled is very irritating.

if you look at the description of the athletics skill, it says "affects your ability to jump from great heights without injury" or something to that effect. so, yeah, the higher your level, the better you can jump. also, starting out with a Kajhit lets you jump higher and longer in the beginning... w00t!

in other news, why is this poll always at the top of the page every time i come here?

I think it depends on Acrobatics & not Athletics.

Probably because it's a poll. Or it was the last subject replied to.

One of the most disappointing aspects about Morrowind was the fact that the skill bonuses of each race don't extend beyond the 100 barrier - Argonians are supposed to be the fastest race in the game, but they're limited to an Athletics skill of 100 like everyone else. Sure, they can start out at 50, but who wants to waste so many potential levels? If you leave it as a minor or misc. skill, you can get 3 or 2 extra levels (respectively) for your character if you want (taking Athletics as a major and specialising in combat starts it at 50).

The thing is, no matter how different the beginning of the game is for each character, they all pretty much end up the same, with the only real differences being your choice of weaponry, and even then you can train up any skill you want.

Fair enough. I'm not paying for a domain, so no pics for me.

By now, it's pretty common knowledge that you can get around Geocities by renaming your *.jpg and *.gif files to *.txt and sticking that inside the tags.

It'll work for awhile, but Geocities is still pretty strict about bandwidth. They limit the amount of transfer hourly or half-hourly. Some shit like that. As long as you don't hot-link on very high traffic forums, you'll probably never notice.

Now, regarding Morrowind. THIS GAME OWNS MY FUCKING SOUL.

I don't know what it is... In all honesty, I'm not sure that I'm having fun playing it. I can't stop, though! I spend like 15 minutes looking at the water! I get lost all over the place, but I don't mind wandering around. Walking has never been so... fun? Or slow?

Well, whatever it is, this game's got something. I'm hooked. Playing this game at 1280x1024 with all the details just floors me. What a step up this is from my old computer.

I know the feeling Milo. Don't worry, it'll only last for a couple of months. Still, there's a heap to do in the game, and I didn't get anywhere near discovering it all either - in fact, I didn't get to do even half the stuff I wanted. I have unfinished business with that game, and will return to it later the in year, but for now I've overdosed on it, so to speak. Mysticism and Alteration are two very useful schools of magic. Enchant is not. I thought it would be cool being able to enchant items, but the fact is, it's fucking hard to (chances are incredibly low) and even the best items in the game can only hold one or two very low constant effects. Which pisses me off, because that means finding decent items requires prior knowledge, which can wreck the game for you. I'd prefer to be able to make items of almost equal quality myself.

Point of note here is the Ebony Mail. It's the best armour in the game, and it's medium. Trouble is, there's pretty much nothing else in the medium category. Oh, sure, Dreugh and Indoril Armour are medium, but they don't compare in AC terms to glass and daedric, or even ebony. But the Ebony Mail has a ridiculous amount of enchantments on it - 50 Shield, 75% resist fire and 20% resist magicka, constant effect. To have a shield of 5 constant effect needs about 125 enchantment points, which is pretty hard to get on an item. The Adamantium Helm of Tohan (again medium) is the best in the game with 150 points, but there's still not much you can do with it.

What am I rambling on about? Enchanting is a shitty skill, and is only useful in reducing the amount of charges used on magic items, in which case enchant should at best be a minor skill.

Isn't anyone going to expound the virtues of NWN so I can bash him to bits? Come on!

I'm sure the reason no one has said how great it is is because Fatman is either spending all his time playing it/he can't get to the computer becuase of all the in-laws in the way/he spends his meagre free time playing it because of all the in-laws.

Or he's dead/been fired. Whatever works for you.
