having no other channel to go through I will post this here. Would you accept a walkthough (yes of the rip off version) if submitted on the release date? I have found a few tricky spots in the game and a ready to go wakthough would be a handy and nice thing to have for your site on the release date. I know your very vocal view on the rip version, but never-the-less if you would like a walkthough just say so, if not a polite "no" will suffice. Glim
I'm not an owner, but just out of curiosity, how many times did you pass this game, and did you do all quest with all multiple solving possibilities? How do you know that you didn't miss anything?
I have yet.. I have yet to beat the game, but I can go back to the start and do the trouble of making the walkthrough, if I feel it is going to be appreciated and respected and not just passed of as warez trash. I'm not too far, but it has taken me a long time to get where I am, I know if I had of had a walkthrough or even a labled map of the cities, it would not have taken me so long to get where I am. Trust me on this one, it's confusing in the larger cities to know where you are going at first or even second or third lol. The extra time it takes me to travel sort of interupts game play cause you gotta go back and go.. now where was that place again? or where was that guy with the armour shop? It would be better with a labled world/town/cities map for newbies and ease of use for other players. I know it won't take away from game play but it definetly will add to it
Glim, don't get me wrong I relly would appreciated the walkthrough, in fact always after completion of any game I'm checking what quest I missed. But, and this is big "BUT", most people (please notice I don't say everybody) like to be surprised by the game. Now ask yourself what would be more fun: following directions or make your own rules. I bet this forum will be full of questions starting with "How the hell..." (proof of that is Arcanum thread on ISO site is reaching 1000!! posts) and any help will be more than welcome. Because the game is so complex I think Calis and the rest of the gang could use some help with writing the walkthrough. Of course I can not speak here on behalf of moderators, but it did happened before (Chris B.)
Cool Yeah I know what you mean about the new thing, but when i say the maps would add I really really mean it.... the whole world is huge and when you need to go somewhere you sorta want to do it in under an hour... last night, I needed to get somewhere and do one little thing, in a normal game that would have taken me all of fifteen to twenty minutes, last night in Arcanum it took me one and a half hours cause I couldn't find the bloody place to do the thing... a map would have helped there and most definetly not wrecked anything for me... tends to get frustrating when you can't get to where you need to be due to simple geography. To make a second point I think there should be no help requests allowed in the forum till the week after the game has been released, make sure everyone gets the new experience before the easy ride comes along. oh and could you tell me (PM me) where thaT ISO post is? be neat to see. more to come if my walkthrough is approved  [ This Message was edited by: Glim on 2001-08-03 06:04 ]
Glim, We can sure use some help with our walkthrough, but like you said, we're not posting any spoiler material until the game is released. Be sure to send in what you have after that, though, and we'll probably post it with full credit and all that.
Are you guys... Are you guys doing your own walkthrough? Cause I know one guy can't do a proper one... what class/ types of characters are you guys using / planning to use? If each one of us doing the walkthgough uses different races / classes / alignments we could cover more of the questions you and I know are gonna come through. Currently I'm using A Dwarven Technologist who loves his firearms of mainly good alignment.
Actually, what we're planning is a quest database much like the one currently available for the demo.
yeah but each class gets a different reaction to those quests... like a techno talking to a mage vs a techno to a techno... differenet options appear... same would go for racial differences.... I'll try and generalize enough to follow your outline, you guys do have a nice walkthrough for the demo. you may wish to add how you get the drunk guy in the bar to join your party, if that is at all possible (i didn't try too hard, liked Virgil) Maybe I'll go back and try this weekend.... also I am going to concentrate on the maps... exact item locations on the crash site etc... although i realize most is random some things are always in the same place.. like herbs etc....
